Has anyone else seen or heard about this fued? Collin basically says that he, Jim Rome and Skip Bayless are the hardest working men in their business, and unlike Patrick, they don't have "35 producers" doing the show for him. Cowherds comment http://thebiglead.com/2015/02/02/vi...rick-he-needs-35-producers-to-fill-a-segment/ Patricks response
I don't really like either one (if I had to, I would rather listen to Patrick). But to me, Cowherd is just bringing up a bigger persons name trying to get hits, etc. He's doing a Canzano basically. He's always been about promoting himself and being a smug tool.
All I know is that I enjoy listening to Dan Patrick's show. Cowherd has gradually evolved into an edgy "tryhard" douche since he went national.
Yeah, I was listening to DP yesterday when Rich Eisen brought up Cowherd's comments, which precipitated Patrick's response. I get where Colin is coming from in that he doesn't have anyone on air with him to "play off of", which makes his show tougher. It's also likely intentional, as Cowherd (like Rome) doesn't like to share the spotlight with anyone. And it's also what makes Dan Patrick's show more listenable than Cowherd. I think it's also worth mentioning that their little catfight dates back a few years. In the wake of bounty-gate, Patrick had asked Warner if he would allow his children to play football, and Warner caused a bit of a stir when said he wouldn't. Later that same morning, Cowherd had Warner on, and asked basically the same question, as though he had come up with it himself. ESPN then ran with it, basically crediting Cowherd for unearthing that ground-breaking revelation. Patrick threw a little bit of a hissy-fit, calling Cowherd lazy. I think it's safe to assume that stung, and Cowherd has been looking for an opportunity to return the favor and prop himself up.
I'm glad colin used Rome (the guy he copied) and Bayless (co-frontrunner for biggest dbag on radio) as examples of his kind. Colin Cowherd is easily the most elitist hypocritical phony on radio.
Podcasts are phasing out conventional shock jock radio shows, so all this is much ado about nothing. And sadly, ESPN LA has some of the best programming out there if you're still into sports talk radio and my go-to choice.
One day you are going to be dead and nobody is going to care. I know he didn't mean it like THAT, but LOL!
Cowherd's show sucks! DP's show is 100x better. Cowherd whines and cries way too much and his little impressions suck, his voice is like nails on a chalkboard. As DP said, Cowherd works for ESPN, he has way more resources available to him than DP does. Suck it Colin!
Another thing I dislike about Cowherd is that he is from the PNW yet he usually shits on all the teams up here and makes fun of us. Guy is a douche canoe.
Good call. I like SVP and Rusillo because they just seem like real people who are willing and able to mock themselves. Self deprecation goes a long way with me.
Of all the national syndication, he's the best. Rusillio is hit or miss, but SVP is great. He was my favorite sportscenter guy when I watched it, because it seemed like he actually cared about more than just the stars.
SVP is just a dude. He would be a guy that would be fun to hangout with, guys like Cowherd, the Mikes, etc. would be dreadful imo.
Funny that you say that about Cowherd. My brother in law went to a live Dan Patrick show somewhere, and met him. Said he was just a regular dude, had a lot of fun, very personable. I imagine SVP would sit on your porch, grab a cold one, and talk about really random stuff.
SVP is that guy who will talk to you about aliens and how they effect the game of golf or something lol
I will give Cowherd this, there's a lot of times where I shake my head and go 'really?!', but he is actually deep down a really compassionate person if you really listen to his humanistic takes. And it's not for clicks or ratings like a Quick or Canzano.
"Because you know that Tiger woods is my boy, he's ice. But something is definitely up with him. Now we got new cats like Bubba and Reed..." He can get away with it, and I love it.
