Substantial - like 5-15 grand, first time and 25-50 k for multiple offenders.
If they choose to flop - then they will play a few games for free.

Multiple offenders eventually should receive suspensions.

50k per flop... Not per game. After 3 flops 1 game, 5 flops 3 games, 7 flops 5 games, etc.

These big fines just ain't gonna happen. I'd be satisfied with a tech free throw, like for an illegal defense penalty.

That could work. As long as it counts as a technical foul against the offending player - so that if they try to fool the refs twice in one game they get ejected from the game.

Forget the fines, they are useless. Most of the worst offenders make >$10 million per year. $50K fines (what's the most allowed under the CBA?) aren't going to phase these guys enough to get them to modify a behavoir that benefits their stats and the outcome of their games.

The money won't work, gotta hurt the team as a whole somehow. I was kidding about the challenges anyway, but you could have a real time flop tracker that informs the refs of flops and adds a free throw as a tech the next time a team is shooting.

I hate hate hate floppers. If my team does it I still don't like it.

I don't like the idea of technicals for flops. They already can't get the calls right on flops, now we're going to give them the power to fuck more shit up? It ain't going to be the hardens and the Pauls of the league getting those Technicals.
Refs need to be the ones to get the fines for falling for the flops. Hitting their much smaller paychecks will make a bigger difference, imo.

The flop has been coached in the NBA forever..a lot of basketball historians cite Jerry Sloan as a player the original master of the flop. Baseball players have a flop move at the plate to influence the way inside curve balls are called by an umpire, they often fall down or jump away because an inside curve isn't a desirable pitch to swing away at..these are the tactics in sports. Football defensive linemen have a lot of moves to draw offsides calls from offensive linemen. The flop won't go away anytime soon.

Each team needs a goon to lay out the notorious floppers like Harden and Paul. Early in his career RoLo was a solid NBA goon:

    Hell yes!
Bring back the days of the enforcer. If they want to flop - give them a reason/helping hand with the flop.

Next time against Houston and 'The Beard' flops, we really need Biebs Leonard to sit ontop of Harden, centre court, and trim his beard off.
    De-Beard him 'Samson' style.

Fines don't deter millionaires from flopping. Accountability of the officials does. Does the death penalty stop murder? Hell fucking no....

As a ref who referees over 250 games per year. I'd love to see techs for flops. I tell kids all the time "get up and stop flopping". Or I just look at them on the ground and keep running. Ask yourself this people:

Why is the NBA the only level where flopping is prevalent? How come we don't see it much or at all at the College and High School level?

Simple answer: The flop is rewarded in the NBA (with a whistle from an out of position referee) whereas it is not in College or High School.
