Bethe Correia doesn't want to fight Miesha Tate but Sarah Kaufman sure does.

Jon Fitch failed his post-fight drug test after getting rekt by Toquinho at WSOF. Double fail.

Mighty Mouse wants $2-million to fight TJ Dillashaw. I'm guessing fan interest in this super fight would be less than overwhelming.

Tim Kennedy kinda-sorta retired on the MMA Hour but walked that back a bit in a later Tweet...

I’m not retiring. There just isn’t a fight I am interested in or excited about. I am disappointed in this sport and I have to make a living.

    From the MMA Hour today...

Not really new news but in case anyone didn't already know, GSP knows there are a lot of guys in the UFC on gear, presumably including Johny Hendricks. When GSP came to the UFC to tell them he wanted enhanced testing to try and set a new standard with himself as the test subject they were not behind him. They didn't support GSP when he went ahead and did VADA testing himself when Hendricks refused. On top of that they mocked him for doing it, saying both he and Hendricks "looked like idiots" for it. GSP was half-way out the door before all this and pretty much done with the UFC afterward. GSP says he was recently offered a fight with Anderson Silva (before the failed test) and passed. He's got no intention of returning and would only consider it if the UFC adopted international, independent doping testing, which the UFC has already dismissed as being prohibitively expensive.

GSP also expressed concern that the NSAC (and other commissions) profit from the events they sanction and drug test for, meaning they have incentive when it comes to not finding cheaters or delaying results until after events have happened and money has been pocketed.

Right, because canceling events and screwing fans is such a great solution.

Call me a cynic - but when someone gets this puritanical about an issue I start wondering what horrible skeletons he has in his own closet.

    A likely co-main for the Jones/Johnson headliner.

GSP is someone who has, above all else, been honest during his career. Honest about his feelings, critical of himself, etc. He felt strongly enough about the issue that he volunteered for the strictest testing in MMA history and set a new standard. I think it is cynical to think that he has something to gain from it, especially now when he's not even part of the UFC anymore. I think it bothers him on a two levels- first that he was spuriously accused by Penn and others, second that the perception of his chosen sport is that it is not legitimate. Until there is a reason to believe otherwise I think it is only fair to trust that GSP is being sincere.

Canceling events is not a solution to anything and I didn't suggest that as an option. Allowing cheating fighters to compete and get paid is the problem and preventing them from doing so through OOC testing (and getting paid at all) is the solution. If the UFC can't put on an event that is strong enough to stand without the main event that is their fault, not the fault of enhanced testing or overly severe discipline. I mean maybe you have no issue with Silva pocketing about $4-million for his fight with Diaz after his fine but to me this seems antithetical to what the UFC and the commission are trying to accomplish with their testing. The fact that PEDs are banned is confirmation that they are an unfair advantage and as such the fighters should not be allowed to compete if they are found to be using them, full stop.

I am not comfortable with a fighter (GSP) advocating for a drug testing company that in a sense sponsors him (VADA). Did they not pay for all of his testing? Seems like a conflict of interest to me for him to be pushing for VADA testing when he is linked to them.

That was an attempt at a compromise. Hendricks wasn't comfortable with GSP paying for both of them and wouldn't pay for himself. The UFC wasn't interested in getting involved. NSAC got salty and said their own testing was sufficient. VADA offered to pay for both of them but Hendricks withdrew. GSP went ahead with the testing because he wanted to be true to his word.

VADA has other athletes on their website now including Roy Nelson and BJ Penn. None of them are sponsored by VADA and VADA wouldn't risk it's integrity (which is it's foundation) on one athlete in any case.

As far as I recall none of Tristar's fighters have been popped.

Correia doesn't want to fight Tate, but Tate does. Tate doesn't want to fight Kaufman, but Kaufman does. Apparently these girls haven't learned anything from Don Juan Cerrone. Just say YES.
