Huge news... but I saw this coming. It was apparent that he wasn't going to be in a Sixers uniform past this season, and I actually felt he was going to be traded by the trade deadline anyway because of our brutal schedule (and as a result our horrible record). The only thing that worries me is that Billy King is going to screw this up. We need to deal Allen for young up-and-coming players, expiring contracts and draft picks, then use the draft and the $9 million in cap space we'll have once Webber's contract is off the books to try to rebuild this team. I just have a feeling Billy King is going to screw this up though...As for AI... the best fit for him would be Denver, Boston or Minnesota. The problem is what are we going to get in return?Denver really doesn't have any promising young players other than J.R. Smith and their only appealing expiring contracts are Andre Miller ($8,633,333 off this year) and Joe Smith ($6,807,000 off this year). Any Denver fans feel free to correct me if I'm wrong there.Boston has a lot of young players, so they would be the ideal trading partner despite the fact that the trade talks broke down over the summer. I would try to pry Gerald Green and one of their young big men and point guards right off the bat, because those are the pieces we will need for the future, as well as picks.Minnesota really doesn't too much to offer, but I'm sure they will try to make a run at Iverson so KG decides to stick around. I'd like to get Davis in return and I really don't know what else.I know AI and Carmelo are really good friends, so I'm sure 'Melo has already asked Denver to try and bring AI there. Boston was really, really, really close to landing Iverson over the summer. The only thing I don't like about that scenario is... well, it's the damn Celtics! Can't imagine seeing Iverson in green. :no1: And then Minnesota... AI and KG, enough said.
Big news, and I can't wait for something to go down! Now maybe Louis Williams can come up and get some quality time, if they don't get a guard in return.. :winkglasses:

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Why wouldn't the staggering Celtics still be interested? The 76ers can do a lot worse than accept several of their young players along with, say, chronically injured Theo Ratliff, who would be allowed to retire gracefully. The Hawks, too, possess a surplus of young talent at several positions, though the startling play of Tyronn Lue is packing them in (four sellouts in eight home games) so far.Denver's George Karl expressed interest at one point last season. Andre Miller, Linas Kleiza and Joe Smith might pique the 76ers' interest.Or how great would it be to see Iverson and Kevin Garnett paired in Minnesota, giving them the opportunity to win their first championship in concert. That way the 76ers could acquire Randy Foye, the object of their affections last June (in Celtics trade talk) and maybe Mike James. That way Minnesota could dump a particularly burdensome contract or two, either Marko Jaric or Troy Hudson. The Pacers, too, are looking to do something big, reveals a league source. Larry Bird is unhappy with his team's chemistry, meaning Stephen Jackson and Jamaal Tinsley aren't fitting into Rick Carlisle's system. Another $4M-to-$5M piece would have to be included.</div>http://www.nypost.com/seven/12082006/sport...csey.htm?page=0

Man... as I told BALLA, Philly bball died.I lose some respect for Iverson, but now I hate the Sixers. Idiots. The management can't do one thing right. I should be their GM. Billy King is the biggest dipshit ever.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>According to two general managers contacted by King, the 76ers are attempting to accommodate Iverson's request, Vecsey said. "A.I. is not the only player Billy is looking to move," one of the GMs told Vecsey. "His second breath is about Chris Webber."</div>http://cbs.sportsline.com/nba/story/9859137
Trading Chris Webber is going to be nearly impossible, Nobody wants a contract that big for a player who can't produce at a high level.
Blah. I understand where Iverson is coming from. It's about time for him to go to an actual contender. I hope we get some decent talent in return though. We will also reallllly get to see what Iggy can do. This would probably mean that Webber wants out as well which would be sweet. Oden sweepstakes!
will be intersting to see where he ends up..... a trade needs to happenif I was KG id be demanding McHale to be on the phones with Billy King like yesterday... Foye, First... whateva it takesDenver would be intersting, Boston has pieces to trade.... the bulls could use a star player and a guy who could score for them everynight.... the Hawks have some tradeable pieces and need a pg.... the Clippers would also be in the running....right now the Nuggets, Wolves and Clippers make the most sense so that probally means he wont land on any of them teams.....
The Sixers are looking to move Webber, which isn't much of a surprise since they have been trying to do so since early in the summer. The problem, like Ballaholic mentioned, is that nobody is going to be willing to take on his horrific contract when they look at his low productivity and cancerous attitude when he isn't in a winning situation. If Allen Iverson is traded, don't be surprised to see Webber go on strike and shut it down for the rest of the season (I hope he does this!)... If Iverson is traded, I'd rather keep Webber. Why? Because that $9 million in cap space we'll have once his contract is off the books. If we can get expiring contracts in the Iverson deal, add that onto Webber's expiring (after next season) and we'll have enough room to sign a few impact players (considering the 2008 free agent class is weak in superstar players).
Ok guys, we are all blowing this out of proportion. Firstly, the Sixers wont do anything until the FA deadline comes, and a couple weeks after that. I dont see him being traded for at least a month. Second, Boston would not be a good fit for this guy, they wont get Iverson unless they get Pierce in return, because AI does not want an excess at the gaurd position, they can negotiate that somewhere else.Third, I think people are forgetting Iverson's value, the only this goes down is if AI is involved in a blockbuster deal, there is no other way a team will get him and give up next to nothing. He is an All Star, a probable/potential HOF, and is an elite player in the NBA. Unless the Philly GM is stupid, they are expecting a franchise player in return, no questions asked. We are talking a 30-33 PPG and 7-10 AST players, that is Steve Nash material.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Or how great would it be to see Iverson and Kevin Garnett paired in Minnesota, giving them the opportunity to win their first championship in concert. (realgm reveals everything), and that wont happen without Garnett in the mix. Same thing with your idea of Denvers JR Smith, Miller, and Marcus Camby, the salaries dont work out.I also thought maybe Marvin Williams, Pachulia, and Josh Smith for the Sixers, but again Philli is way over the cap to keep this guy and get the same in the return for a trade.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I could see him going to the Clippers.I just did a trade on realgm..Iverson + Kyle Korver + Willie Green + 2nd for Sam Cassell, Corey Maggette, and Cuttino MobleyClippers starting lineupG-Allen IversonSG-Kyle KorverSF-Quinton RossPF-Elton BrandC-Chris Kaman76ers starting lineupG-Sam CassellSG-Andre IguodalaSF-Corey MaggettePF-Chris WebberC-Sam Dalembert6th man: Cuttino MobleyThoughts?</div>I dont see that happening at all. The Sixers GM needs a future with this trade, for all we know, this can be a whole ne rebuilding process, Sam Cassell has been in the NBA for 13 years! For all we know, he could do the same thing Iverson wanted, be part of a winning team. The Sixers are rebuilding, not continuing another chapter they just left of at.And for that matter, I dont see Boston happening eithier. The Sixers wont give up a guy like Iverson for just nothing, they need at least one player with 20+ PPG on his resume, which is why I keep saying Paul is the only way to go to get Iverson. Then they can negotiate a second option to make the deal even.
How is Boston not a good fit? Boston is one of the few teams that has the pieces that Philadelphia would love to have. The Celtics have a bunch of point guards and the 76ers need a PG. The Celtics in my opinion are one of the few teams that can pull off a deal. And Paul Pierce loves Allen Iverson.

RaptorsFan, you're not understanding something... Iverson is not going to be involved in a BLOCKBUSTER deal. Every GM knows he wants out... look at what happened over the summer. Nobody was offering a superstar player in return... its simple economics/business. Just because he's a future HOF doesn't mean that we will get a superstar in return. Should we? Yes, but will we? Nope. And if Boston trades for AI, they are doing so with the intention of pairing him up with Pierce, not to replace Pierce, and the Sixers understand that. The only thing that would prevent us from trading him to Boston is that they are a division rival. Most GMs wouldn't trade their franchise player to a team within the division, but Billy King is a dumbass so it is a possibility.By trading Iverson we are going into full rebuilding mode. We need draft picks, young promising players and expiring contracts, not another superstar to be miserable here.

Do you mean that I am thinking that Iverson wont be traded to a team, because GM's dont like his attitude? If so, I dont think they care, after all, the Bulls aquired Big Ben at all costs right? This is my take at it, If you get a superstar player in return, plus a second option, it could work for your team, Maybe a SG/PF combo along those lines, that wont turn you into a championship team, but you are defintely playoff bound, add in a couple of picks and your good to go, No one wants what happened with VC here to happen in Philidelphia, most people would take VC's example, and avoid that.
yeah ^ bigmo *Sixers may get a couple decent guys in return that may not even start for the sixers, we will defently get draft picks but all I know that is when iverson goes then the sixers become more of losing team then ever this season.Im actually quite happy that Iverson is leaving philly, he's always going to be one of my favourite players in the nba and I know he is always going to love philly even if he leaves the team, I just think this is best for him being traded now.

GMs are not going to take the risk of bringing him into a bad situation (I.e. Atlanta) when they already know he's had it in Philly and wants out of one.Boston is a promising team for Iverson to go to. He has a LEGIT star in Paul Pierce, and that alone will win the Celtics 45-50 games in the East. Plus their younger players will continue to develop nicely, and they can contend in the East. It also makes sense for the Sixers because Boston is the only team with the right combination of potential, expiring contracts and picks that appeal to the Sixers.
