Don't forget Garrett Jones, LH power, 1b -Rf
... and Chase Headley, career .346 OBP and .756 ops with a good steady glove.

...sigh...rick didn't list Headley because he was not an addition from last year like all the others...and Jones is a platoon bench player.

I'm amazed that this actually needed explaining.

Sigh......Jones should assume part time duty mostly at DH (vs RHP)....some 1b, maybe occasionally RF. He has a career .810 OPS vs RHP and will probably be part of some rotation with Beltran,Young...ect for DH,RF.....I don't know, call me crazy but there's sound reason to believe he could be one of those factors which will help improve offensive output from the deadful numbers the Yanks got last year from the DH spot and/or possibly less limited duty inRF/1b.

And Headley is a NEW addition because there was doubt whether or not he would be on the team this year.....and now, unlike last year, he'll be there from game ONE.

Yep, is kinda amazing how some just overlooked a LH with good power - in Yankee Stadium- but then again, this may also explain why some believe the Yankees' run production won't improve from last year. lol

Can't help what? Trying to explain to silly Yankee fans how their offense will be better than last year which should better offset and help a "mediocre" (maybe better) pitching staff? Oh, I forgot, Pecota and Fangraphs both picked Baltimore for last place with 78 wins and the Red Sox with 88 wins.

Do YOU believe those numbers? Get real.....YOU just can't help it.

...unfuckingbelievable...you just can't help it, can you?

    1. I'm well aware of his splits which is why I said Jones is a "platoon bench player"...did you completely miss that and do you know what platoon means?

    2. You can spin Headley as being "new" however you want if that makes you feel better and if it will stop you from hijacking threads.

    3. When did anyone say that they thought run production would be worse this year?...they didn't, so stop making things up just to fit your agenda.

...lmao... to even you it should be obvious that Baltimore is not as strong as last year and that Boston is stronger than last year...please, learn the game.

LMAO, You've got to be kidding me, how the hell could an OLD addition become a NEW addition when technically he never left?

^^^ It's that "alternate universe" thing rearing its ugly head again.

...I suppose by using his logic, Chris Young is also a "NEW addition" ?

    1) I'm also well aware he is a platoon bench player....and he adds good depth and has been productive which usually helps a team....as you may know, teams need good bench players to pitch in.

    2) Call it whatever you'd like, but when the season starts, unlike last year, Headley will the starting 3b.

    3) I never said anyone here said run production would be WORSE.....but I seem to be the ONLY one saying it would/should be considerably BETTER.
So stop putting words in my mouth.

Now please address the fancy links you provided which have the Orioles in last place with 78 wins and the Redsox winning 88 games......

And you have a problem with ME picking the Yanks to win approx 90 games?

    WTF is your problem? lol

And by that logic Capuano & Drew would also be considered new additions.

Forgive my input, I know this wasn't addressed to me but.........The Orioles lost Cruz, Markakis & Miller & basically added no one so I agree they will suffer. The Red Sox on the other hand improved by adding pitchers Rick Porcello & Justin Masterson & infielders Pablo Sandoval & Handley Ramirez.

So I guess I can include Heckle and Jeckle as agreeing with '59's almighty links as having Baltimore in LAST PLACE and BOSTON winning more games than the Yanks?

Fine with me. Now proceed with with your "new additions" smoke screen.

I know I'm going to regret this but........you don't think the Orioles losing there most productive HR hitter, the clutch & leadership of Markakis & a reliever like Miller is not going to hurt them? A LOT! And that Boston's new improvements are going to help them A LOT!? If that's what you're saying than you should seriously consider following another sport because you know jack-shit about baseball. IF that's what you're saying. And I really hope its not.

Baltimore should be getting their fine 3b, C and 1b Davis back, those players missed large chunks of the season.....and the last time I checked, they had the 3rd best bullpen (era) last year. And don't think they don't have other options to pitch in and help in other areas.

Boston? Hanley will be playing LF so I guess we can expect GG caliber defense from LF, lol , and since when has Masterson been ace-like quality?
Porcello? Good pitcher, but he's no Lester.

Last but not least, the Yankees are the team which has added within the division the most dominant pitcher (Miller) which now gives them probably the two most dominant relievers in the division.

    Learn the game.

WTF!? Why the hell would the Red Sox put Hanley in LF when he's NEVER played the position?

I'm sorry but Ron's right....................................learn the game. Holy shit.
