Guys I hate comcast with a passion.... but I really like my money. Situation is this. I've had DTV for the last 4 years; Premier package ~125-150 a month. Plus I pay for the Comcast internet which is ~50-75 a month (depending on how many times I call to negotiate w/each of them to lower the bill for 6-12 months). Now, Comcast is offering me a "double play" promo, which is basically all of their channels (Premier digital) + X1 + 50mb Internet (which is what I have now), for 110.00 + whatever it costs to add another HD receiver. The savings is about 100 a month.... but I must get in bed with that shit-ass corporation again for 2 years.. Save 100 or so, or try to call DTV and Comcast again and get some breaks on the bills? Probably still would end up around 170/month Edit: If I switch I can finally watch the Blazers (in HD) and PAC12 network...So that is a plus.
Make the move. Comcast has its issues, but TV wise they make a very good product. Their on demand for the xfinity is fantastic and the DVR is very user friendly. Their internet kind of sucks from time to time, it says 50mb but it doesn't seem to work as consistently as Frontier did for me but its been good enough. I think they've made strides with their customer service, in my experience anyway. My main issue with comcast has always been their dealings with the Blazer contract, and now that my internet and TV are about $70 cheaper and their contract with the blazers is almost up, its doesn't bother me like it did.
Make the move. Comcast has always treatedme well. I love my money and blazers, so it's a no brainer for me. I tried to switch to frontier once and they treated me like shit. If you need to deal with the Comcast people ask for the customer loyalty team. They get shit done for you and aren't salesmany douche like the front line customer reps
Let it be said, I hate crapcast. They will jack up your rates to about the same as what you are currently paying, but in the short term you can save a few bucks. The up side is being able to watch Blazer games. So between the two evils.."do I shove an angry asp up my ass or gargle a goats dick?' always go for the Blazer games.
I hate comcast as well but I just made the move as well for the X1 package with the 220+ channels that has HBO included and 105 megabyte Internet for 130 a month including my extra box. As much as I hated doing it I dont regret it now. Having a DVR for Blazer games makes it seem worth it.
Be aware that you only get that deal for the first year of the 2 year contract. After that, it's full price for everything. I have the same package and am awaiting the price hike. I didn't sign anything committing to the two year agreement, so I look forward to that battle when the time comes.
I avoided comcast like the plague after last year. I ended up with Dish (40ish per month), CenturyLink (30ish per month) (which isn't insanely fast but it works just fine for me because I can stream in full HD still with no issues), Ballstreams to watch the Blazers (50 for the whole season) and Plex (40 for the year and I can watch HBO/Showtime/Big network TV shows and recently released movies Theater AND DVD... but I have a good server I'm on)
I just called Comcast and upgraded to the X1 system. I'll now have HD/X1 on all 4 TV's in my house instead of only 2 (dont currently have HD in the kids rooms). I'll also have faster internet. The cost will be a tiny bit cheaper than what I'm paying now. Had to commit to a 2 year agreement but that's fine with me since I doubt I'll change services anytime soon. I've had Comcast for 15+ years.
Thing is my month to month after the 90 for Blazers/Plex (once a YEAR) is only 70ish a month. When I had comcast I was paying like 129 a month which was insane.
