    Mikael Backlund

    for

    J.T. Miller
    McIlrath

Cost is up there but Backlund is cheap, a RFA next year and is a guy they can plug into the third center role for 5 years. He's at least respectable on draws. He's 25. Calgary has no room for Backlund at center when Bennett takes a job. Their system absolute sucks with defenseman. It's a perfect match. They need a wing and defenseman and heck of a lot more than a 3rd line center who won't have a job on that team as a center by next year.

Backlund is a good young player. Or do the Rangers keep Lindberg and hope he can become similar?

Take Backlund and worry about next year later.

Every time someone on this board mentions a possible
player to obtain............that player gets injured.
    Tell you anything? LOL

The Flames would absolutely do that IMO. If you read, there is no point keeping Backlund when your centers are going to be Monahan, Bennett and Colborne. He has absolutely no future on that team. Amazing how much fans overrated players on other teams when it comes to trades.

Backlund is better than Colbourne though Dump. I dont know, maybe youre right and they would, as Miller is turning into what looks like something decent. Id almost rather keep Miller right now unless its a for a good piece to make a run this year. With Hayes and Lindberg going forward they may not a Backlund.

Backlund is not better than Colborne. Colborne is 6'5, is 52% on draws. Backlund is respectable but is under 50%. To me, I take the 6'5 guy who can put up 35+ points and is 52% on draws than Backlund.

They defintely need to do something fast about the pathetic faceoff situation. Somehow they survived it in the playoffs last year for the most part. Stepan should be embarrased being 75th out of 80.
