Thank God. The prospect is a pretty good agitator prospect with offensive skills. Plus a 1st. S0rry, but Franson sucks defensively. To me a team just gave up a 1st and a good prospect for a role playing forward and a poor defensive defenseman. Doesn't look good for us to make a deal with teams being that desperate early.

Yeah I wasn't that high on Santarelli, oils rather have Hayes down the middle

Nice deal for Nashville. I don't get hung up on trading 1st round picks in the mid's 20's or lower like dump does. I don't love Franson, but with their base D set he is a great add for them as a 4th or 5th dman. And adding a 15 or 16 goal guy for their 3rd line like Sant is also a big plus for them. Very smart move for them as they actually go all in to try and win a cup, not worry about 2018 when Rinne, like Hank, is 32 now.

I would focus on Winnik. With Hags/Hayes/Miller looking good as the 3rd line Winnik would be a great add for us. Issue would be faceoffs still. But Hayes has gotten better, and maybe Step will get his head out of his a** at the dot.

And Vermette of course, assuming we can afford him cap wise and return wise.

Vermette and Stewart would be the ideal ads but they don't have enough Space for both of them. That would make this team deep as hell with Miller on the fourth line

It's an incredibly stupid move for them because they aren't that good. This doesn't make them elite. The playoffs will start and they will get bent over by Chicago, Anaheim or St. Louis.

They aren't that good...LOL. Most points in the league by 5, but aren't that good.

Now OF COURSE they can lose to the Hawks, Blues, or Ducks but they are a good team. All 4 of those teams in the West are big time elite teams. The Ducks may have an edge because the other 3 have to battle just to get out of the Central while the Ducks get an easier road in the Pacific. The Ducks just hope the Kings don't get the WC so they'd have to play them in round 1 (I think they'd beat the Kings this year though).

I 100% applaud the Preds here. They may lose in round 2 against the Hawks or Blues no doubt, but I 100% give them credit for making the move to go for it. What we failed to do in 2012. Good for the Preds.

Rinne is 32, not worried about the 26th pick in the draft...good for the Preds and their fans. Worry about today within reason not 2018.

Add Stewart also strud, forgot about him. Stewart or Winnik or Vermette. Those guys are the focus. Add 1 and it would be a big help for us. We would be the fav in the Met assuming Hank is back of course.

Larry Brooks mentions Mark Letestu of Columbus, Torrey Mitchell of the Sabres and Curtis Glencross, if his salary can fit, as options for the Rangers heading into the trade deadline. (NY Post)
Brooks thinks that the Rangers are seeking a winger or a winger who can also play center. (Brooks)

Letestu, 30, is 5-10, 199 and has 6 goals and 3 assists in 26 games this season while winning 53.2% of faceoffs. He averages 13:59 per game and 2:27 on the PK. Last season he had 12 goals and 22 assists in 82 games and won 51.2% of his faceoffs. He is a UFA at the end of the season and has a cap hit of $1.25 million.

Way too much smoke. We'll add someone. Any of the names I mentioned. The names Brooks mentioned. Letestu is a good name. 14 or 15 goal guy on most seasons. Similar to Sant, but also kills penalties. Solid on faceoffs. Good for 3rd line.

We'll add someone for sure IMO. Just a question of whom.

I wonder what the Kings would want for Stoll, though they will probably end up getting in the playoffs.

I don't see the Kings doing anything until right up to the DL. If they are out they have a few guys they'll deal. If they are in, or real close, I think they will hold. So we won't know about them for 12 days or so, DL is in 15 days.

When you go for it, trade all your picks and many of your prospects and don't win, you end up like the Devils now. You will suck for a decade. When NJ stopped drafting well and started making stupid trades and got older, they sucked ass.

What? Do you just make stuff up dump? The Devs are where they are because people left by signing elsewhere, and the Devs never replaced them, losing them for nothing. Not because they traded away picks or prospects. Combine that with Lou being out of touch with today's NHL world, and that is their issue bro. Has nothing to do with dealing picks and prospects.

We don't agree on this and never will dump. You live for 3, 4, 5 years from now, I don't. Good for you man. You can BE SMART with dealing picks/prospects now and still be fine down the road. Adding Hayes means we did NOT deal our 1st last year. We have two 2nd's. The Preds dealt a decent prospect and the 25th pick, maybe worse...oh no the future is f'd. Just stop man. That is a smart move for them, and they didn't give up a ton. They are trying to win now, good for them. Not worried about 2018 when the 25th pick may help them.

Vermette is the best rumored add, we need a guy like him way more than a 4th like guy

    From LeBrun:

Pending UFA winger Daniel Winnik, who, like Santorelli, impressed this year in Toronto, will be moved before March 2. As of Sunday, a Leafs source said they weren't close to moving Winnik yet. The pressure is off a bit after the Nashville trade, so Nonis can afford to wait and have the Winnik market heat up even more. The Leafs are believed to be looking for either a second- and third-round pick for Winnik or a second-round pick and a prospect.

One of our 2nd's and a mid prospect. I would do that for Winnik. First I would kick the tires on Vermette though and see if we can get him. He fills the scorer/faceoff need which is bigger than what Winnik fills.

And LeBrun is a big fan of the Preds deal:

Where they are now: among the list of bona fide Stanley Cup contenders.

Not really wanting Winnik any longer. His track record for goals is bad over his career. While that is not his primary role, in 28 playoff games he has 0 G and 3 A. Not worth anything close to that price. Backlund would be my first priority. If you didn't want to give up Miller, than see about another package.

I still go back to Anisimov. This year his draws are down but last year he was 49%. He can play wing. He would be perfect. Let him play wing with Stepan and take the draws for Stepan because Stepan is an imbecile on faceoffs. I think if you offered the Jackets a package of a 2nd, Lindberg, McIlrath and made them take Glass they would do that. Anisimov is a FA the year after next.

Anisimov loved NY and never wanted to leave here. I said during training camp that this team should have cut down MSL's even strength minutes and played him the full 2 minutes on the PP. I would tell Marty he'll be playing 8 to 10 minutes a night unless there are a lot of PP's until the playoffs. Then I would go with these lines. MSL was very good with Hagelin in the playoffs.
