McDonagh with over 25 minutes of ice time tonight. He was pretty solid tonight.

That will be in the playoffs sc.

Add Vermette and Miller moves to 4th line dump.

The one thing you have to say about this team is you can't keep them down. They do some dumb shit but give up is not one of them.

No surprise at all. Kreider a force every time hes on the ice now and he's letting go that howitzer of a shot he's got more than just always passing. I think Joe Mik commented that kreids has 9 goals in the last 20 games or so which is a very nice clip. Judging by the way McD was firing the puck tonight his shoulder problems are over.

One f'kn wild game. And yes........these Rangers are resilient.
Not an easy task to travel across the country and beat the
    Islanders in regulation.

They have earned a day off before they take on the Canucks
    Thursday at home.

If we acquire someone than we have a rotation of Miller-Fast-Stempniak-Glass for 2 spots on the 4th line.

In reality Glass shouldn't see the ice unless there are no other options.

If they acquire another winger MSL and D.Moore could be an option but MSL isn't getting 4th line minutes. I actually though St.Louis and D.Moore played well with each other last year in the playoffs when Moore filled in for Brassard ( and when Moore had a chance to make it 3-0 in G1 against LA on a pass from MSL but whiffed on an open net).. I'm still pissed about that

Carton is so desperate for ratings. He tries to instigate to get calls. Complaining about the non trip where Boychuk was already falling over his own feet.

Kings are heating up...no surprise there. Just 3 pts back from 2nd in their division.

Then we should mention the missed call late when Stepan was taken down in his own end and the Islanders came towards Talbot with numbers. The Islanders had three two goal leads and that idiot is crying about a good non call.

There were many non-calls in that third period. Refs let everything
    go.

As some posters said here Talbot is bad with rebounds. You really appreciate how good Hank is with rebound control when you look at some of these other goalies.

No doubt that is his biggest issue. I said it before he took over for Hank. As he tries to become a # 1 somewhere after next season, that needs to be his focus...improve rebound control. Can't ever be a big starter if he doesn't improve his rebound control.

His numbers have not been good, BUT he is winning games. Sure we are scoring a lot to help him win those games, but he has also made a lot of big timely saves. Winning is all that matters, so I tip my cap to him for that and for making big saves when needed.

I was concerned about him once it was announced Hank would be out, and that concern has been right on numbers wise (I thought 3 gaa +/- and .900 sv% +/- and the numbers have been worse actually). But since we are winning games the concern has turned out to not be a huge issue. Get points and move on, and he is giving us a chance to do that. I also think the O has stepped up knowing they need more without Hank, and we have played a few lesser teams which helps as well.

Overall Cam is winning, so that is good for us and him.

I like Cam but I don't see him as more than a backup.

I tend to agree, but it is not a finished book yet. He can improve still. That is why he resigned for next year, he knows he's not ready yet.

wasn't that Al Montoya's issue as well?
Glad we got that monkey off our back with a huge comeback win. the non call could have gone either way....I think the rangers did get a way with things that would have been called if they played say the Pens...everyone in the world knows if that was cindy skating over the blue line and fell it would have been a double major spear lol....

with all the feel good...lets remember they were two inches from tying the game in the final seconds...

Al, Josh Bailey thought he had the tying goal in the last seconds.
So did I. The whole right side of the net was open.
Both goalies were erratic. Talbot, known to be a good puck handler,
really needs to rethink his game. Was giving the puck up. Needs to
play through and hold on to the puck. Isles and other big teams
have too much savvy not to pounce on those big rebounds.

Cam had the best numbers among rookie goalies last year and now in his sophomore year he gets unexpectedly thrust into the starting spot battling for first in the Metro and goes 5-1-1 but I guess the jury remains out for some. Winning percentage trumps all in this situation unless you're looking to point out that a backup goalie puts up worse numbers that one of the best in the world. That was the best NHL game of the season so far. The Islanders are probably one of the few teams that AV has to dress Glass (not that he needs an excuse).

The jury for sure still remains out on him. His sv% and gaa are both below average for a starter.

Not sure where you are coming from here panzer, or what you are missing. We are speaking of Cam AS A STARTER. He is starting for us right now. We have already clearly established, and all acknowledged, he is a very good backup goalie. We are talking about him as a starter bro. And not in comparison to Hank, but to other starters.

He has a better than .900 sv% 1 out of 7 games. He has allowed 3 goals or more in 5 of the 7 games. Those are real numbers.

Like I said earlier, 100% the bottom line is he's 5-1-1 in his 7 starts and he has made some big saves when needed, and has kept us in games as well. So tip of the cap like I said earlier, and good for him and us. BUT if you cannot see that he has allowed MANY goals he should have stopped in 7 games, and you cannot understand that AS A STARTER the jury is still out, I am just not sure what to say bro.

If you are basing your comments off of him as a backup, we agree. But as a starter, which he is for us right now and what we are dicussing for him and his future, the jury 100% is still out.

And that is not a knock on him at all. He is young and growing. As I said the book is not fully written yet on Cam. He has plenty of time to grow and get better. But he is not ready to be a good starting goalie in the NHL right now. May change over the course of the next few weeks, but right now that's the way it is.

No one is saying he can't or won't get to that level, but he isn't there now.

I agree, Talbot is a very good backup at this point. He must fix that rebound control if he wants to be a starter.
