Great size. Much better skater than Glass. Has 10 goals. Absolutely think Devs give him up for somebody like Lindberg who I don't think has a spot here any longer. He is one of the few 4th liners out there I can see making an impact in the playoffs.
You think the Devs and Rangers make a deal though? Still think Vermette is the most likely guy here. Then maybe Winnik. Bergenheim from Florida is interesting also.
I still think Winnik is a solid fit. He has size. He can score around 9 or 10 goals and 30 or so points. He is a righty. He kills penalties. He has the best +/- on the Leafs at a +14, which is impressive on that team. He has playoff experience. He's about 49% on the 180 faceoffs he has taken this year. He is a solid fit. Him or Vermette I will be happy.
The only issue with Winnik is playoff production. 0 goals in 28 games. But Vermette hasn't been a playoff monster either. 58 playoff games and 18 points (9 goals). And in the long run for the Sens, he played 20 games with only 2 goals and 5 points (only season he was a + in the playoffs...+ 2). He did have 10 points (5 goals) in 16 games for the Coyotes 3 years ago though. Point is you don't know for sure how good, or bad, a player will be in a given playoff season.
Correction on Winnik, he is a lefty. Not sure why ESPN says righty, but he is a lefty. Craig Button on NHL network just said he was the best fit for us, and our "need" is bottom 6 forward. He then named Winnik as the fix.
I was thinking about Bernier remember dumb he's going to knock out either Miller or Fast if they acquire Vermette
The 3rd line looks real good right now, but we need to remember Hayes has never played this many games and has ZERO NHL playoff experience. Miller has very limited playoff experience. Not sure if I could count on them both in the top 9 in the playoffs. That's why I like Vermette first (more scoring and faceoffs) and Winnik second.
We were out of gas by that series strud. That team grinded for everything. Low scoring grinding battles every game. 7 game series after 7 game series. Didn't score goals. Team was spent, and Glen did us no favors at the trade DL. I hope history doesn't repeat itself on that one.
He's another one. Stewart, Vermette, Winnik. Maybe some Carolina guys. Still like Vermette, but any of those guys will do.
This has to be the thinnest trade dl ive seen. Not alot but some useful pieces for cap strapped contenders.
I wouldn't worry about the experience because Seguin and Marchand played great in the rookie seasons when Boston won the cup
And we can name a ton of guys who didn't produce without experience. I really don't want to have to rely on BOTH. That's my point, and why we are looking for a top 9 forward.
No shot of that Step. We would only get one. Pick one...and I rather have Vermette. And lower cap hit as well.
