Count the New York Rangers among the teams interested in Andrej Sekera. A previous report from Elliotte Friedman also listed the Dallas Stars as a potential suitor, although Carolina is also still interested in re-signing him. The sticking point will likely be the asking price, which is reportedly a first-round pick and a prospect. If the Hurricanes are willing to take less though, then the Rangers are expected to attempt to pry Sekera away.
Like Nashville who got Fransen who sucks defensively and Santorelli who is a 3rd line, role player. Carolina will get a 1st.
I don't think they will get a 1st, but who knows. I know I wouldn't deal a 1st for Sekera. It is nothing like the Fransen Santorelli deal, but that deal had Fransen AND Santorelli in it and they only got a late 1st. Sekera is not as valuable as Fransen IMO, and there is no Sant to package him with, so I don't think they get a 1st, but teams get desperate at this time of year, so you never know.
