In other words, "no trade coming, I'll try to win with girls if I have to."

Miami traded some hot garbage for the Dragic brothers. They just got a lot better.

Are the 2 future first-rounders part of the hot garbage?

How many 1st rounders turn out to be as good as Dragic?

This is also a move to win now while their window of opportunity is as good as it gets. Their stars aren't getting any younger.

The heat play grit ball these days. 30th in pace and 2nd in Opp PTS/G at 96.6.

Too bad their own PTS/G is 28th at 92.8.

You don't win scoring 93 and giving up 96.

    Dragic should help a lot.

Fortunately, instead of girls, Thibodeau has:

-a 26 year old former MVP at PG

    -an all star at SG

-an all star starter at PF

-last year's DPOY and 1st Team All-NBA center

-last year's 6th Man of the Year runner up

-a backup PG who is averaging 20 points and 5 assists per 36 minutes

Thibodeau has a lot to work with.

The all star at SG isn't playing.

The DPOY from last year has had a major regression.

Last year's 6th MOY is not a candidate this year.

The DunVP at SF hasn't played much either.

There's a better way to explain this.

With all those assets you enumerated, Mike Dunleavy is mediocre at best and Hinrich has played near 30 MPG and he is the worst guard in the NBA who's played 200 minutes or more.

If we think this team, as constituted, is a championship team, then we should keep on playing Kirk and Dunleavy heavy minutes. if we don't, but this is a year where there's great opportunity to make the finals (which I believe), then you make a move to improve our chances. If the move decreases our chances, we tried. If we make no move, we're throwing in the towel, in effect.

With all due respect, I think that's ridiculous.

If the Bulls could have made a trade that improved their chances at a title this season without selling out the team's long-term prospects, I assume they would have made it...they actually do want to win. The possible difference makers involved in trades were probably Goran Dragic, Aaron Afflalo and Reggie Jackson. Dragic and Jackson are PGs who wanted out so they could be THE PG...DRose says howdy. Denver wanted draft picks for Afflalo. Miami gave them two future first round picks. The Heat's future picks figure to be more valuable than the Bulls' future picks. You aptly characterized the rest of what the Heat sent the Nugs as "hot garbage." The Bulls' might have been able to match the Heat's hot garbage, but I don't think it matters.

The Bulls believed that, in the overall, none of the available trades were in the team's best interests. I don't have any reason to doubt this judgement.

Checkmate my ass...if you're going to play the game, you can't also make up the rules.

It seems that Thibodeau's going to play Hinrich significant minutes whether any of us fans like it or not. I hope his healed toe leads to improved accuracy on his shot. If Hinrich can hit his career average of 37% of his 3-pointers, he's a plus player. So far this season, he hasn't been able to make this mark.

Checkmate. Regardless of your speculation about the team's lack of activity, the product on the floor says otherwise.

At 37%, Kirk isn't a net positive. Surely a SG with a 10+ PER could have been had. Ramon Sessions was moved, no?

It seems like you prefer to keep a #25 pick over getting a player who's NBA ready and plays at both ends. One who improves our title chances.

We didn't because adding $7M in salary next year puts us in the LT. LT more important than championship.

Ramon Sessions? Seriously? You've often expressed your admiration for Thibodeau. Do you think Thibodeau would trade Hinrich for Sessions straight up?

He must think he's in a funk and he'll come out of it. I'm guessing he's ready to give up on that.

I'm also not sure he truly wants him on the team at all. He may be playing him as a way of saying, "you stuck me with him, I'll stick you with him."

In any case, it's going to be impossible for you to justify playing the worst shooting guard in the league over anyone who is not. Satisfaction with this situation is throwing in the towel on this year's chances.

"We're satisfied with our bottom line" is more appropriate.

As I've said before, I admire your imagination.

And i don't have to justify playing Hinrich. I'm not the head coach.

You talk up the organization, tick, no matter if they play Kirk or worse. Tick.

But when they do something good, I say so...

HaHa! When the Bulls do something bad, I say so. Here's the thing...you think 90% of what the Bulls do is bad and I think 90% of what they do is good. Each of us is wrong a certain % of the time. In the end, none of it matters. It's just recreation.

I think Thibs covers a lot of mistakes.

How many times do people , not necessarily me, have to point out the profit motive. Or that Kirk's man double teaming some other player, or is 25' away from him on the opposite side of the court, isn't guarding Kirk at all?
