Well there could have been a gentleman's agreement with all parties that he would come back. Edit; nevermind I didn't know about a CBA rule.
I don't know about six years ago, but I seem remember something like this many years ago, maybe someone we traded for Scottie Pippen(?) ended up coming back to us right away.
They just changed the CBA back in like 2012 or something. It is a fairly new rule, and you have to wait 1 year or until that players contract is up, whichever is sooner, meaning T-Rob can't be a Blazer until Free Agency.
The cavs did it with the Center, whos name ill have no chance of spelling correctly, Z - something. Traded him to the Wiz for Antwan the Wiz then bought him out and he went back to the Cavs. Was during Lebrons last year before he left for the heat. Rule got changed after that.
Stacey Augmon I believe was part of the trade and did that. I didn't realize that Big Z was the trade that caused the rule to change though.
Will be interesting what happens to him. He doesn't have much of a role in today's NBA you need to be a floor spacing big man or an interior defender and he's neither. Think he'd be best in China or Europe his athleticism over there would be shocking.
Yup it was Augmon. He was part of the package for Pippen and then he came back after the Rockets cut him.
