Re: "Melo: Iverson-Ok" <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Melo: Iverson trade is OKAnthony would welcome deal for 76ers standout"You want A.I.?" said the kid at the Gold Crown Field House. "Yeah," Anthony said. "Do you like Allen Iverson?" "I like him. You and him are my favorite players," the camper said. The Nuggets are in the midst of numerous trade rumors. About the only thing that seems safe is Anthony will be in uniform next season and will sign a five-year, $79 million contract extension Wednesday. But of all the trade rumors, the one that seems to be causing the most stir is the possibility of adding Iverson, the Philadelphia 76ers' star. Anthony played with Iverson on the United States' 2004 Athens Olympics bronze-medal team, considers him a friend and talked to him recently. "He said he didn't know what they were saying on his end," Anthony said. "He doesn't want to say something about one thing when it could be another thing. I played with A.I. in the Olympics. I know what kind of player and person he is." Anthony was eighth in the NBA in scoring last season, averaging 26.5 points, while Iverson was second at 33.0. But Anthony believes he and Iverson could coexist on offense. "Paul Pierce and Antoine Walker made it work (in Boston)," Anthony said. "Kobe (Bryant) and (Shaquille O'Neal) made it work with (the Los Angeles Lakers)...well, at first. We can make it work." Anthony said he has heard trade rumors about Nuggets guard Andre Miller and either big man Marcus Camby, Nene or Kenyon Martin being included in a deal for Iverson. But Anthony said he has heard Camby's name the most but would hate to see Camby, who led the league in blocks per game last season, go. "You rarely find big men like that who can block shots," Anthony said. "Regardless to his injury status, you can't find big men like that." The forward, who just finished his third season in Denver, is antsy about the potential roster changes. "It makes me nervous," said Anthony, who has been working out for two hours daily to prepare for the upcoming USA Basketball training camp. "I don't know what's going to happen. We should just do something and get it over with or focus on what we need." Anthony said he was looking forward to signing his contract extension. The Baltimore product is scheduled to speak to the media about his new deal at his camp that day. "It's like a dream come true," Anthony said. "When I was growing up, Big Dog (former NBA player Glenn Robinson) was getting $100 million, Jason Kidd was getting $80 million. You dream about that." Anthony's full camp drew about 600 kids, and he gave 40 scholarships through the non-profit Family Resource Centers to kids ages 9-17 in Denver and Washington and Yuma counties. After Monday afternoon's session, he signed autographs, posed for pictures, answered questions, gave high-fives and played 1-on-5 with the kids. "I thought this was a good first day," Anthony said to the coaches working the camp.</div> Well, maybe he will do good in Denver, whatever sounds good to you Melo.
Re: "Melo: Iverson-Ok" Yeah... Melo wanted him in the summer, and I'm sure he still wants him now. I think they could co-exist offensively as well, but the real question is whether or not they have the pieces to offer to Philadelphia.
Re: "Melo: Iverson-Ok" I don't see Denver having the pieces to bring Iverson in, Maybe if we added Marcus Camby, Andre Miller, and JR Smith into a deal. I'm not sure.
Re: "Melo: Iverson-Ok" Wow..the two leading scorers in the NBA, on one team! This would be crazy if it worked out, but I dont know if Melo would get enough touches with AI around..
Re: "Melo: Iverson-Ok" I think it would be fine, Melo has to shoot as much as he does. With Iverson around they should get an even amount.
Re: "Melo: Iverson-Ok" I would love this..... if it happens. I doubt it will though. We would have to trade too much to make them even think about it. 2 leading scores in the same uniform would be crazy! We already lead the league in points per game (as a team) with like 109 a game.BTW the Gold Crown Field House is where I go to ball sometimes. It is so nice!
Re: "Melo: Iverson-Ok" damn there would probably be games where they both put up like 40 each. that would be some potent scoring right there. they would probably have to give up many important players to get iverson though
Re: "Melo: Iverson-Ok" Id love to see him in Denver. Camby, Melo, AI would be make the west that much more dangerous, and exciting in the playoffs.
Re: "Melo: Iverson-Ok" They have the pieces to get him andre miller and nene nd pos a 1st. Getting him nd melo together would be a site to see
Re: "Melo: Iverson-Ok" I don't know. The Nuggets seem to be meshing right now. If I was them I would think twice about shaking things up. It almost seemed silly to be talking about AI during their game last night the way they were playing.
Re: "Melo: Iverson-Ok" I don't see anyway how Camby could be traded with Andre and JR for AI. They give up way too much. It would be easier to pull the trigger if KMart and Nene were healthy.
Re: "Melo: Iverson-Ok" The Sixers Manager said something about wanting draft picks for him, as well as young players with great potential in the interview last night..
