Took a mighty baseball bat swing with both hands at Letang's ankle.
No penalty called. Pens implode after this incident. Letang uses his
stick as a weapon and refs called it....leading to Caps winning goal.
League must punish Ovechkin for his ice antics.

Elite players need to pay the piper for their illegal antics. A joke.

After watching this, I thought any Ranger would've been banished
    in Pen house.

He's on fire for me in my fantasy league. I took him over Crosby and Stamkos. Proving to be the right move. SOG count in our league and he's by far the best. Nobody is close.

OV, Holtby, a great PP, and a coach that stresses D and holds them accountable for D...pass. That is why of the other 3 teams in the Met, the Caps are the team I'd least like to face. I think they are getting by round 1 this year, or at the very least if we play them it will be a long 7 game war. And then we'd have a long battle of a series against the Isles in round 2 (all 3 of these teams beat the Pens in the playoffs I believe). Not a good recipe for winning a cup.

I agree Chuck. Caps are transformed into a legit playoff contender.

Battle for 1st place is on with Rangers, Caps, Pens, Isles......any one
    can take it.

As of right now, I'd prefer playing Pitt in Round 1.

I would prefer the Caps play the Isles in Round 1.

Yessir. Let the two of them pound each other and wear each other out while we'd hopefully take on a soft, broken spirited Pens team. Key for a long playoff run this year is ending series quickly and not getting into the whole win one lose one nonsense as usual.

To be honest, Caps & Isles would be a long hard fought series. Both are
geared for the hard fight. Rangers and Pens not so much. Getting past
either the Caps or Isles will be a major test for the Rangers.

Ovechkin is being smothered by Isle forwards(but that leaves other
Caps open). Looks like both teams will get points in this game.
Isles are down 2-1 in 3rd and they are tenacious in keeping the
puck in Washington's end. Close.........SOB. They tied it. Strome
from Tavares. TENACIOUS......a style I'd like to equate to the Rangers.

Worst possible outcome IMO. Caps still get the 2 points, but the Isles get 1 as well. All you can do is smile.

Rangers 4 back of the Isles 3 games in hand. Tied with the Caps 3 games in hand. 3 ahead of the Pens 1 game in hand. Own the ROW TB clearly on all 3 teams, which is a plus.

With games in hand the Rangers are 2 up on the Isles and 6 up on the Caps.

So still in good shape, but not easy. 1st may be huge since the Pens may be 4th.

That Caps team is good man. They are deep also. I really don't want them in round 1.

To me the Pens have moved to clear # 4 in the Met. I think the other 3 teams are much better now, and the team that gets the Pens in round 1 is the team I will most likely pick to make the ECF. The other 2 teams will battle the heck out of each other while the 3rd team gets a softer series against the Pens. Big edge.

It's not out of the question that the winner of the Met ends up with the most points in the conference, meaning they would see Bos/Fla instead of Pitt (assuming Pitt is 4th).

Caps looked gassed in the last minutes of period 3. Isles kept
the pressure on with their net empty. Caps just could not clear their zone
even with an empty net staring them down. Playing their 4th game in six
days.....Isles looked stronger. And they play Canucks Sunday after Halak
    rested today.

Both of these teams are tough to beat in regulation....as of late.

That is true Prod, but the overall point still holds true. Whether you get Pitt OR Bos/Fla in round 1 as the Met winner, you'd still get the winner of the Isles/Caps in round 2, assuming the Rangers finish 1st.

Either way the point holds that getting the Pens OR Bos/Fla is the way to go. Simply put, I want Isles/Caps in round 1. That is our best bet to make the ECF. Same for the Isles and Caps. They want NYR/Caps or NYR/NYI round 1.

Bottom line to me is with 3 very good teams in the Met, I happen to think it is a very large edge to be the 3rd team that doesn't have to play the other 2 in round 1. Play the WC...big edge. Of course this assumes the Pens finish 4th. If they finish 3rd I want 2nd.

You get the point. Best bet is get the Pens/WC in round 1 NOT the Caps or Isles. BUT I rather have the Isles than Caps to be totally honest.

I do not want either of these teams in Round 1.......unless we get help.

Agree cage. The Pens or WC in round 1 is the best bet. That is why I am not hung up on must finish 1st. If the Caps finish 4th and 1st means we play them, then I don't want 1st. I just want the Pens or the WC (to play the Atlantic WC you must be 1st in the Met of course).

The way things are looking right this second though 1st will be the place to be as it seems like a decent bet now the Pens will finish 4th (in a WC spot). So finish 1st in the Met and Caps/Isles is a lock. Then you play the Pens/Fla/Boston in round 1.

Even though with games in hand the Pens can go 1 up on the Caps, I just don't think they are that good. I think they will finish 4th in the Met.
