We need cheap role players. Sure, dude ain't been up to expectations, but given the current status of deals handed out these days, I wouldn't bat an eye at giving him the same deal we have him. That being said, I expect he'll be elsewhere next year with a similar deal that we signed him to, but for a little less.

I understand completely what you are saying and I agree. I'm not sure if you know what I'm getting at though. Fonz is acting like Lillard ids gonna go Ham if we get rid of Wright. I'm calling Bullshit on that.

I remember a rookie Lillard saying how much he'd miss JJ Hickson and Jared Jeffries. Doesn't seem such an issue any more

When he said that about Hickson it was a quick blurp that everyone says about a teammate leaving unless it was a toxic toxic relationship. Dont remember what he said about Jared Jeffries but Jeffries is a great teammate and few people have bad things to say about him.

When JJ was let go, Lillard said JJ was one of his closest friends on the team, said the same about Mo and Jeffries. My point is, he's moved on without missing a beat as a Blazer. Lillard is very mature for his age. I think the whole, can't trade or waive Lillard's friends is pure bs. I like DWright on the team for his contributions in the lockerroom and his skills. Not for his social loyalties.

Difference is loss of MO still affects him. Others guys no. So would Wright loss be more like JJ or more like Mo for Lillard? I think the latter.

I just looked at Wrights per 36 and advanced stats... He actually is playing much better (on paper) than I expected.

Everyone remembers the poor plays D-wright made early in the season. But like most vets... they work themselves into shape, stay ready, and play better as the season gets older.

Just like the people that were "calling it" early in the season about Kaman winning 6th man on the year.. and praising him for his defense... lol...
it's those same people who hate it when he's on the court now that are complaining about how bad D-Wright sucks.

Is he a solid rotational player? No, but he's a vet and plays better as the season moves forward.
(not just biasing my opinion off of last night either. He's played well in short stints since January. Stats don't show everything.)

IIRC that was his first stint in February last night.

    I guess that's true.

But it shows that when I remember watching a player I kind of have a disdain for... When I see him playing better I'm going to mention it...

Just like when a few years ago on the old boards I was hard as fuck on Batum for taking it up soft every time and missing an easy dunk or an easy basketball play.
I gave credit for Batum when he started to stop doing that...
Just like with Nards this year.

    Credit where Credit is due.

If he doesn't ask for to much I see we give him another whirl. You always want people that want to be here.

I firmly believe good Veteran presence helps win regardless of how much time the veteran spends on the court. So id most definitely be open to resigning him if he didnt require much money.
