Cam Talbot stopped 27 of 30 shots last night in the Rangers win over the Blue Jackets but said that the game tying goal has to be a routine save for him. (MSG)

With 4:21 left David Savard took a shot from the point that Talbot deflected with his stick into the top of the net.

Alain Vigneault said after the game that if you were to ask Talbot he would say that he would want that one back.

He said that the team “bailed me out huge” in the shootout and that the Rangers would have likely won in regulation if he didn’t tip the puck into the net. (NY Post)

After the game, Dave Maloney said that Talbot’s positioning on shots from the point is a little “discerning” and that Steve Valiquette says that Talbot needs to challenge the shooter more on those shots. Dave said that he thinks Talbot has the right instincts on the play but isn’t in the right position to make the save.

The answer to your question is both Al like Prod said. The D has been up and down and has made sloppy mistakes in their own end, but no doubt Cam has been soft. After every game there is a comment I need to make that save OR AV says Cam knows he needs to make that save.

Simply put he let's up at least 1 soft goal in every game.

Now I am over it as I said last night. He is a backup goalie and I will now judge him as such, but don't fool yourself this is not all on the D. Cam let's in a soft goal or more every single game.

I need to know what goalie doesn't let up goals that after it happens the announcer or the fan or the coach said...well so and so would want that one back..
do I think Cam is starter material...no...if hank was retiring tomorrow we would be in trouble, we wouldn't be saying we can get to the finals....with that said...how many teams can say that about their goalie or their second goalie

Cam is a backup goalie. As a backup he is solid. He let's in soft goals every game, but that is to be expected from a backup.

Is what it is. Not going to get fired up over it anymore.

Without Hank the record has been great which is all we can ask for. Hopefully Hank's injury has progressed. We should hopefully get some kind of update soon.

Hank took low shots today. That is good. Also read no follow up scheduled this week...that is bad?

I don't know what to think, but if he is back by mid-March I am happy. Think 2 or 3 weeks.

MUM is the word. Nobody's talking. Not even a talkative Hank.

If he's doing any kind of physical workout that's a good sign since he was restricted from any strenuous activity at the injury's onset.

I agree panzer, just strange he won't be evaluated this week. I thought for sure he would be checked prior to the trade DL. Clearly skating the past couple of days and taking some shots today is good, but strange no checkup.

Overall it cannot be a bad sign he is on ice.
