http://celtics.bostonherald.com/celtics/vi...rticleid=171210 <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Celtics are very much back in the hunt for Allen Iverson. According to league sources, the Celts were on the phone to the 76ers as soon as they learned that Iverson and Philadelphia had reached a point of no return. The Sixers kept Iverson out of last night's game against Washington, and team chairman Ed Snider said he would be traded. Sources say Philly president Billy King is well aware of the Celtics' interest in finding a deal that works for both sides. Danny Ainge had no word on a possible trade last night, saying, "I don't comment on trade rumors." But it was known that the Celts had spoken to Philadelphia management about what they had to offer for Iverson. The fact the talks had slowed later last night had some in the league thinking the 76ers have another deal in the works, but word is the Celtics are willing to discuss a number of different packages. The Celts believed they were close to a deal for Iverson this past summer, but the best of those scenarios included Utah, which now has the best record in the NBA and would likely be loath to upset what it has going. Count Paul Pierce in favor of getting Iverson. "Sure. Why not?" he said before a 116-111 loss to Phoenix. "I think we can mesh well together. Any time you have two guys of that caliber of play and they play together, things would work out. They'd find a way. "It would definitely provide some excitement to get a caliber of player like Allen Iverson. Who would want to turn that down? I think it would be a thing about respect. You've got two All-Stars on one team, and it would be a respect factor. I have a lot of respect for his game, and I'm sure he has a lot of respect over the years going against each other." Looking at the Iverson situation overall, Pierce said, "I think eventually something will happen. I think he's a great player and he deserves better." Some may believe Pierce deserves to play on a winning team, but don't look for him to ask out of Boston - as Iverson evidently has asked out of Philadelphia. "I think we're in two different situations," Pierce said. Philly has really tried to rebuild around Allen Iverson with the (Chris) Webber trade, focusing on that duo. And they see that it really didn't work out; whereas us, we're focusing on helping our younger guys grow. It's totally two different scenarios - the patience of a young team compared to a team that's probably already peaked." Celtics coach Doc Rivers on the Iverson rumors: "He's not on our team. I have no reaction."</div> Well, we knew Ainge would pick up the phone again, but I saw this and figured I'd post it. Pierce likes AI, he really wants him there. KG like AI too, he wants him there. Melo said he loves to play with AI. I mean, a lot of teams want Iverson. We have a potential deal as well, because we can put together a nice package of young players, picks, and a soon expiring contract. Or Wally. Who knows, really? This is definitely something to be pretty excited about though, knowing that we are one of the top contenders for Iverson. Also, this says that Wally will sit out tonights game in New Jersey, but there is a chance he could play Monday in New York.
Please Danny, don't goof this one up. If we got Iverson, and maybe one big man, I honestly think we could win the division.

Hunter would be a solid guy to bring off the bench. He's big, athletic, and he's a shot blocker. Just think though, if this goes down, and Ainge dumps Ratliff instead of Wally: Pierce, Iverson, and Wally together. Talk about offensive firepower, huh?! OK I'm getting way ahead of myself here. Sorry, I am just too damn excited.
Lol I was just reading this. But seriously, can anyone give me a good trade for both sides (name the players) in which King will get close to or just about half the skill for this guy? Can someone please post their salaries and stuff to see if they match, because no matter what I can do, there is no way to get this guy unless your trading a bulk of your skill.
Isn't this an overbundance of topics by now? I can't imagine the amount of topics when he finally gets traded.

Then you add in the little contracts of 2, maybe 3 young players. Then add a pick. That's enough to match up the salaries. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Noah @ Dec 9 2006, 02:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Doc is a f*cking ***hole.</div> ????

We are Celtics fans with a 5-13 record, with some actualy excitement here. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Noah @ Dec 9 2006, 02:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Celtics coach Doc Rivers on the Iverson rumors: "He's not on our team. It's league rules that you can't discuss trade rumors, which is why Danny Ainge said that (and always does say that). What do you want Doc to say? He has to focus on getting this team wins as well as keeping his job, and also note that this is right before a game.
