    • Katie Strang: It’s looking more likely that the Rangers will be trading Mats Zuccarello over re-signing him. Teams have been made aware that he is available.
    • David Pagnotta: As Strang reported, contract extension talks between Mats Zuccarello and the Rangers haven’t gone well. The Rangers have been listening to offers all week.
    • Pat Leonard: If the Rangers trade Zuccarello, it would be a money decision. They could maybe sign a cheap defenseman, trade for picks for Zuccarello and flip for a cheaper forward.

    • Pat Leonard: “It is Rangers’ job to do this due diligence, for sure. But it’d be tough to get better short-term by trading Zuccarello. I expect Rangers are finding out whether satisfactory return is possible on Zuccarello, then maybe revisit contract talks after doing their homework”
Do not fuck this up Sather. If we can't sign him fine, but the guy is such a key piece to the locker room and such an important part of a team that can challenge for the cup this year. Consider him a rental if he ends up walking. I dont want to see the roster messed with so drastically.

Like Leonard said, this won't make us better. And this could be our year if we add, not subtract.

This is way different than the Callahan situation, as we weren't in first at that point and there's no Marty St. Louis begging to be traded to the Rangers at the same time. All this does is leave a hole in our top 6 in addition to the holes that already existed.

12:32PM: Alain Vigneault said that it’s been his experience that Glen Sather won’t hesitate to make a move. He adds that he is a big fan of Zucc and hopes that both sides can work out a deal. (Steve Zipay)

12:18PM: The Rangers are “actively” shopping Zuccarello after contract talks broke down. (Brooks)

12:13PM: Zuccarello says that he has no reaction to the rumors and that he has a game to play tonight. (Zipay)

I really don't get what is going on here. Just keep Zucc and go add a player. When mess it all up.

I keep reading the Leafs are trying to get us to take Bozak. Maybe Zucc plus for him and then they flip Zucc for picks. We bump Hayes to LW on the 1st line.

Just don't see how that makes us better. Plus what if Zucc is flipped in the East and comes back to bite us.

And Gleason goes to the Caps, good 3rd pair guy for us potentially.

    I don't get it man.

The Rangers have “never once” inquired about Tyler Bozak but the Leafs have come to the Rangers “a number of times” offering him up. (NY Post)

Brooks says that the Leafs are anxious to move Bozak. (NY Post)

Larry Brooks writes that a fit with Bozak could see him center the third line while Kevin Hayes moves up to top line LW to replace Mats Zuccarello. Brooks says that “perhaps” Zuccarello “plus” could maybe get a deal done with the Leafs then trying to flip Zuccarello. (NY Post)

I said this a few days ago. Like Cally, he's greedy. I can see the Rangers getting back a first and a good young player that is cap manageable. I can see Zucc signing right away with the team he is dealt to. 1st may be conditional on signing.

Zucc to Calgary for Backlund and a conditional 1st, not signed a 2nd.

Zucc to Chicago McNeill, Bickell and a 2nd.

Zucc to Phoenix for Vermette and Korpikoski

Possibilities are endless. Zucc is a guy other teams would love to have.

Brooks is a moron. The Leafs would have to add substantially to get Zucc for Bozak. Bozak is crap defensively.

Zucc is a UFA to be dump. Not saying it would have to be Zucc plus, but we are not getting Bozak plus for UFA Zucc IMO.

I don't like it anyway. Not a big Bozak fan, and I just don't see how this improves the team this year (unless Sather has another move in him for a forward and a depth dman).

That makes Zucc a lot more valuable because of his game. Who the hell wants to be tied to a long term contract for an assclown in Bozak who doesn't play any defense. Zucc is a two way player. He's a great guy in the room. He's a 40 to 60 point guy. You can sign him to the contract you want if you trade for him. Zucc is not the type of player to screw the team over he gets traded to if they meet his contract demands. Bozak is crap compared to Zucc. Once again Chuck, you overrate the garbage of other teams and dismiss our winning players.

I have NO INTEREST in Bozak. He's overpaid and is crap compared to Zucc.

Where are you getting this stuff that Bozak is "crap" defensively and "doesnt play any defense?" It seems like every scouting report and beat writer says hes actually a very good two-way center and more than holds his own defensively, but has been thrust into the 1C role with the Leafs which doesnt fit his skill set and plays with Kessel, probably the most one dimensional player in hockey. I'm not saying I want to trade Zucc for him right now, but Bozak would be great as our 3C.

With all due respect, you are a dense sometimes dump.

To a team that is out of it like the Leafs, Zucc has minimal value. If you told me we were dealing him to a team looking to win a cup..SURE.

And I agree with you on Bozak, I don't love him either. I don't see how dealing Zucc and adding Bozak makes us better. I think it makes us worse not better.

    Stop being dense dump.

With no respect Chuck. You're an f'n moron. You consistently value our players like they crap. You kiss the ass of players from other teams that suck, don't play hard and lose all the time. You've been doing it for years. Your head is so far up your ass it's mind boggling.

As I've said many times. Thank God you aren't our GM. You act like a moron 24 hours a day in a pissing contest. You hear other GM's want players and you want to give more and more and more just to get the player from them. A classic, dumb bastard mentality. You have no patience, strategy and just want to go for it all no matter what the cost.

It's a tough spot for the Rangers because it's either keep him and loss him in free agency for nothing or trade him. I'm sorry but he's not worth $5.5 million a year.

You are 100% correct Messiah. He's a player teams would give up a lot for. The fact he's a RFA means nothing with this player. He's exactly the type of guy that would sign with his new team. He's a high character guy. His value is light years better than that jackass Bozak. Many people on this board, especially Chuck love players from crap teams who are losing players. They offer up the world for these scrubs. Unfortunately, he probably will get dealt to a losing team with cap room. However, that team should have to pay with a good player and picks. It's not the Rangers who should give up more when trading a player like Zucc.

And I also agree with you Prod, as a # 3 C Bozak would be a good fit...but still doesn't make us better losing Zucc and adding Bozak. Now if you told me step 2 was addig another forward, maybe I would be on board.

And moving forward 4.2 per is the price point we'd want for zucc, maybe 4.5 or so ideally.

If they trade Zucc, I don't even have to worry about you being right Chuck. You are so lost on his value it's mind boggling. Sather will get a ransom in return.

Shocker, dump being a rude a**...my lord you are a child dump...a two year old little baby. Seriously dude GROW UP. I mean it now...GROW UP guy.

I never know if you are stupid or intentionally see what you want to see.

I literally said Zucc is better than Bozak and I think that deal would make us worse...but as USUAL you are either too stupid to see that or ignore that and see what you want to see.

My only point is Zucc as a UFA has very little value to the Leafs unless they can flip him right away. Stop being an a** and grow up dude.

He is a UFA not an RFA dump. And AGAIN I said I do not like a Zucc for Bozak swap for us.

You put ridiculous trade after ridiculous trade on this board, and we all laugh at them, but you love to knock other posters who live in reality. It is actually pretty funny.

Cut the BS and grow up. You are the kind of guy that needs a good beating so you will stop with your constant bad angry attitude. Hate to say it, but it is true. You think you know everything and have all the answers, but you actually know nothing. Let's talk hockey for once without being rude and calling people names. Grow up and try it man.
