not sure the contract amounts match up, but I would pull the trigger on a JVR package, how could you not. He would add size and scoring touch, it would leave us the same down the middle but the wings would be NICE and that contract is too good to be true for a kid of his talent and further potential. I doubt leafs even entertain it.

Bad move. Don't like the idea of trading MZ at all

I say pull the trigger and throw in a 2nd and prospect with MZ for Bozak. I like Zucc but we have to balance our smallish team with a little more oomph down the middle. Plus Bozak is signed beyond this year. Then you move Hayes to wing and fit Miller/Fast wherever. I think this would be a very beneficial trade. Give Toronto a solid prospect like Tambellini.

No way Lundy, that is WAY too much for Bozak.

You want to get worse this year, rather have Zucc than Bozak, AND give them a 2nd and a solid prospect. You are way out there on that one bro. No shot I give all that for Bozak.

Again, to me if we deal Zucc for Bozak we better add another forward in a separate deal, because we are taking a step back in that transaction IMO. If we did that and called it a day upfront we would be worse than we are right now, and that is very stupid for a team looking to win a cup.

Looking forward, adding Bozak also locks Hayes in on the wing. I don't know if AV/Sather want that long term.

And I have not seen JVR's name mentioned anywhere, so I won't even talk about it, not worth it right now.

And Step, while I agree with your overall point about dealing Zucc, you cannot give him 5.2 to 5.5 per...just cannot when you look at the cap situation.

To me the discussion is do you simply let Zucc play out the season and let him walk this summer if he doesn't come down to 4.5 or 4.6...which is what I would do. But we cannot give him over 5 mill per IMO.

$4.5 is a generous offer to Zucc, if he wants more Glen has to trade him. If Glen gives Zucc any more then what will Stepan and CK want?

Better that him walking away for nothing. I mean they traded the Captain of the team last year and went to the finals. Zucc can be traded.

chuck, I dont know where I said. Give Zucc 5.2-5.5 million and be done with it. No way he is worth that money. The bottom line is they should deal Zucc only if they can bring back a caliber player like JVR.
BTW... JVR is signed through 2018 WITH $4,250,000 cap hit. If they can get him for Zucc and a bunch of picks and prospects, that would be amazing.

Cally was a little different situation Mess. Is there an MSL out there to replace him with?

I do think they can deal Zucc now, didn't think so until the past day or two, but to me you have got to get something back that makes you better now (the beauty of MSL). That's why I said if you deal Zucc for Bozak you better have another move lined up Sather.

Going to be an interesting 46 hours. Hope the team isn't flat tonight as a result.

Screw that tool Bozak. Just try to get JVR. If not then move on.

I am not going to waste time talking about JVR like I said. I have not seen his name mentioned anywhere, so to me debating/discussing him seems kind of pointless. Sure he could get traded...anybody can get traded, but without any info about him moving, I rather not even go there. You go for it though...:).

    chuck,
Just hypothetically speaking, if JVR was on the trading block. Would you give a world to the leafs for him?

Toronto would be dumb to move him. His contract is great for them. Why would they trade him for a lesser player who wants more money? Also, when thinking about trades. Teams don't want all your spare parts for their quality. Just because you throw in a lot if names doesn't make it more attractive.

I agree with Mess. I'd love to have JVR, especially at that cap number, but so would the Leafs. Cannot see him being in play.

I think a deal with Zucc gets done 5y at 4.8...$24 million. He can get his next contract at 31-32 y/o....

We can think but if he's insistent on $5.5 million then he should be moved.

4.5 - 4.8 is very fair. Idk where the stalemate is at in terms of numbers but he Satger is right.he had only 1 good season and he might not even get 50 points this year

I don't even love 4.8 to be honest. Rather be at 4.5 or 4.6 tops.

What's funny about the NHL and the cap is that they punished NJ for Kovalchuk's deal. What's the difference with that and what the Pens or Blackhawks have done?
