Whenever I play in a basketball game with people I dont know, I usually try hard to impress them but I dont ballhog or do fancy moves like that. I just play like myself but I when I start missing shots I get mind-F*cked and my concentration gets messed up. I can be streaky too which I find as a negative. Does this happen to anyone else or am I just retarded?

Naw im kindve like that though, I actually pass it off alot to show im not a ballhog. But whenever my brother is around I start missing alotve shot. One time a girl was just joking around with me and said if I made it(a 3)then I love her, and if I didnt I hate her. Just flirting, but I missed it
I try to impress people who put me down and when girls are around if its like game with refs I would play the way I suually play, but if its like pick up game I would do fancy stuff
when I'm playing with people I don't know I tend to set screens, play safe, get assists, etc to build teammate's confidence in me being a good teammate.
Yeah, when girls are around everyone shows off You do every move more smoothly, with more style, with more flow. With guys, I don't care...except if they've heard that I'm good before, I don't want to disappoint them
I don't really play against people I don't know.. only AGAINST them. but not with them. But it depends how I play. It depends if my teammates are good. Last summer in Chinatown, I was always the best player on my team.. so I had to be the PG every game and control the ball. The only thing I'm bad at in Bball is making stupid decisions.. bad passes.. things like that. I won a lot though.. competition in chinatown isnt very intense But when I play with good teammates, I just wait for the ball really.. I have a lot of friends who are better than me at basketball, so I've never really stuck out to them.And. yes I try to show off when girls are around. Sometimes I try to hard and just mess up. But sometimes it works :happy0144:

I always want to impress people and show them what I can do, but I always loose my concentration and screw up. It really pisses me off

I hate being mortal

Most of them were lucky though.).I wish it was the other way around.
I try to impress in front of girls and usually at the start, I begin to mess up and lose concentration and everything. But as I get more into the game, my focus on impressing goes away and I just get really into the game. I become more concentrated and thus, I play better and more like my usual self. It's hard to play with people you don't know and I don't usually do it but when I do, I tend to pass alot more and try to find them first before taking the shot myself.

If they are all over me, I will pass it. If they want to talk trash, I'll cross them up and and nail it in there eye. Don't matter, all about the Win. :winkglasses:
I always feel like I'm showing off for the black people when I'm shooting around and a game is being played on the same court. Realistically, no one is watching me, but in my head I am showing the black guys that I can shoot, too.
Honestly, I'm a flashy-type of player. I have the tendency to always attempt to break ankles and I have the tendency to succeed. In a pick up game, I usually play with And 1 rules. If you watch And 1, you'll know that the players do a lot of flashy things. I travel (3 steps limit) like Hot Sauce does when he brings the ball up and does his silly little dance, etc. Even when girls aren't around, I play the same. I'm just consistant.. with dribbling of course. In shooting? I'm a streaky shooter. I'm not very good with 3-Pters (depending on 3-Pters' length) and I do too many fade aways, which I suck at... So, in other words, I pass the ball more when I'm playing with people I don't know just so it won't seem like I'm as horrible a shooter as I usually am. I don't want them to think I ballhog and suck at it... I'm good w/ lay-ups, though.

At least I do. When I play basketball I don't like doing or watching any off that And1 stuff, that's just stupid. Play basketball like a real man.
^ Different person different rules don't criticize people on stuff like that like when you probably play a card game or something like a boardgame you might have a rule that other people might not do or think about.Anyway I'm more of a defensive person I guard them I stay atleast like 3 feet when they tryin' to be flashy then when they move up I stay on them and I just keep doing that and it plays with their mind and makes them think twice and hesitate and once that happens its over.I try to spread out to spread out the ball as much as possible too I use this strategy because I usually play with ballhogs or people who think they the next Kobe I don't try to shoot at all actually.

It's one thing if you're actually talented and can do a 720 dunk or something else impressive, but it's pretty stupid to travel so that you can do a dance while you're playing basketball.
I can do flips with a basketball. Anybody ever heard of Biggie Little? If you have, you'll know he does a front flip with the ball on the floor. I can do that. Also, if you don't appreciate And 1 style of play, I don't care much. It's not like you're going to face me in a one-on-one game sometime in the near future. You can hate my game all you want to. I'm still good, though.. Not conceited. Just telling the truth.
QUOTE

Anyway I'm more of a defensive person I guard them I stay atleast like 3 feet when they tryin' to be flashy then when they move up I stay on them and I just keep doing that and it plays with their mind and makes them think twice and hesitate and once that happens its over.I try to spread out to spread out the ball as much as possible too I use this strategy because I usually play with ballhogs or people who think they the next Kobe I don't try to shoot at all actually.
I'm a good shooter from anywhere within the 3-Pt. line, depending on defense of course. If you leave a player like myself open to do our flashy little moves, I'm sure a player like myself will hit an open 2 pointer. I can hit 3-Pters wide open, too, but not as well as a 2-Pter. Just as I stated before, it all depends on the length of the arc. If it's a highschool/college arc, I'm sure I'll be able to hit 6-7 of 10 wide open 3's.
