Yep. Name calling is sports if it's not racial or down right nasty. Immature. Yeah. Honestly, you have to act grown up all the time at work. You're supposed to be able to act like an a-hole with sports. It allows for a release.

Doesn't look for a deal other than building for the future with Zucc. If he deals Zucc, I want at least a 2nd and a player they can use this year. Calgary with Glencross seems like a good fit. I can see Calgary not wanting to sign Glencross but wanting a younger Zucc there long term.

    That is fair.

Glencross will get dealt, but he has a limited NTC, and I think we are a team he would not accept a trade to. That is the issue with Glencross. He would be a good fit though.

Let me ask you this dump, if the only Zucc deals we can make are Bozak or Glencross (if he agrees to come here) or some other player on that level, would you do it? To me I don't think I would because I would be getting worse, which is counter to us trying to win a cup.

The ONLY way I do a deal like that, and I like Glencross better than Bozak if he agreed to come here, is if we have ANOTHER deal also lined up to add back another top 9 forward with the guy we get for Zucc.

There has been a change in Tyler Bozak this year, and not for the better – his play, at practice, off the ice and in the dressing room.

“It’s OK to be first off the ice at practice every day when you have Phil Kessel’s freakish gifts,” a Leafs executive said. “But when you’re second off the ice at practice every day and you don’t have those gifts, what are you doing? Why aren’t you working on your game?”

Simmons writes: “This is among the reasons the Leafs would like to rid themselves of Kessel. He is different and works differently than most NHL stars. If it works for him, so be it and most of the time it has. But when it begins to influence others, negatively — Bozak has also turned into an interview malcontent when once he was a reasonable subject — then the Leafs realize why they must move him in a rebuilding time.”

Leafs Joffrey Lupul, Tyler Bozak, Phil Kessel, Dion Phaneuf, Jake Gardiner and James Reimer are in play. The Leafs are looking for more then just draft picks and prospects – young NHLers.

I don't know if Shanny can get all this done, but I think the whole team, outside of JVR, is available. Makes sense when you look at how they have played the past two seasons.

Doubtful anybody wants Kessel and Phadumbass with their poor attitudes and big salaries. Lupul is another one dimensional, schmuck who the Leafs think is worth a lot. Gardiner I would have interest in but he cost too much. Not happening.

Atkinson from CBJ is interesting. 18-20 goal guy, righty shot, RFA this summer. Just read we have some interest in him. He would be a nice 3rd line fit.

Why add a smaller player. I'd rather they pick up Bernier for the 4th line.

I like Bernier. Atkinson is a better player though. He would also cost more, and Bernier is a good grinder. I'd have no issue with him, but I haven't seen him connected to us anywhere, so I haven't really focused on that.

Rangers are playing negotiating hardball with Zucc. The thing is that Sather is not going to blink first. If reports are true a raise of a million a year over six seasons is a very fair deal. Asking for two million more when you're not having as good a year as last is absurd.

A lot of Rangers are delusional with money. They still can't get it thru their thick heads that Sather isn't screwing around. They should have learned from Callahan. Zucc is basically digging a hole for himself. I'd say he's 95% gone. Sather is probably going to get some very attractive offers for him.

I agree, and I don't think Zucc gets dealt. The players love him and he's an important part of the team and that room. I think he'll agree to an extension and it will all work out.

Then Sather can focus on what he should be focused on, adding a bottom 6 forward and a 3rd pair dman. I think J. Moore played his last NYR game last night. Happy he scored, makes him look better.

Yeah, the players loved Callahan and he was an important part of the team and the room. Sather mailed his ass to Tampa pronto.

Totally, I just have a feeling Zucc plays out differently. I could be wrong, but I think he'll be here after tomorrow.

It's either you keep him and let him walk for nothing this summer or you try to see what you can do with him to improve the team. Yes, I realize that would require a replacement for him. With the players they have coming up for deals they simply cannot go $5 million plus on a players like this.

I think he's history. Honestly, I think Sather loves the fact he's been greedy. It gives him an out. Sometimes I think Sather is a genius with contracts. It almost seems like he makes great contract offers that he knows won't be accepted and it gives him a total pass with the fans to dump a popular player. I think once Zucc turned down that offer, Sather was ecstatic because he could deal him without justifying it to any of the fans.

I agree Mess, and I would only go 4.5 or 4.6 per. Where I disagree with you guys is I would let it play out, and if he walks he walks. He is like a rental add for us, but it didn't cost us picks.

On top of that NO SHOT...and I mean NO SHOT...I deal Zucc and hurt the team this season. If we can do a cally for MSL type deal, where we got the better player, I would deal Zucc. Outside of that I let it play out. I am not taking a lesser player when we are right on the edge of potentially winning a cup.

I think he stays, but we'll see.

    • Aaron Portzline: Trade rumors surrounding Blue Jackets Cam Atkinson intensified last night. GM Jarmo Kekalainen working late. Nothing official.
    • Aaron Portzline: Was told that Cam Atkinson’s camp tried to get an extension done with the Blue Jackets the past couple weeks. He’ll be a RFA at the end of the year.
    • Joe Haggerty: Lots of chatter around the Bruins and Atkinson.
    • The Fourth Period: Three sources were saying last night that the Bruins were putting the final touches on a on a trade. GM Peter Chiarelli has been working hard to get a deal done on a top-six forward. The Bruins have been looking at Chris Stewart and Cam Atkinson. A source that is close to the Bruins said they are close to a deal for Atkinson. The Bruins are also talking with the Oilers, Stars and Flames.
    • Shawn Hutcheon: Told the Bruins have added some speed to their lineup but haven’t heard specific names.

That's why it all depends on the deal Chuck. For example if you could get a Patrick Elias type in return I would make a deal. I'm not saying Elias but you know what I mean. A veteran who has won before and would help in the playoffs. You would likely have to take on a contract for an extra year but that would be the price.

None of these players excite me in the least. Atkinson is a midget forward.
