And yes I am angry, sorry if it is coming out on you. I want to actually win a darn cup again, not say YES we have pick 54 in the draft next season.
I mean i guess perhaps he is working the phones on some of these guys but man you just wonder with him. We're getting down to real bottom of the barrel stuff very soon.
I can't stop laughing. I can't wait for tomorrow's craziness. It will be more laughable.........with what goes on here and on the networks at Trade Deadline Day with umpteen analysts desperately trying to over analyze the meaningless trades of minor league players and who wins and who loses. You can't make this up. Leave it to the GMs of the NHL.
And that is where we flat out disagree Mess. The market is what it is. SO you have two options: 1. You accept it and make moves to improve your team (as the Caps, and Pens, and Ducks, and Hawks all have). OR 2. You say Glencross or Tlusty or Winnik are way overpriced and you do nothing. Clearly we know where you and dump would stand, and I 100% respect that opinion. I couldn't differ more because I don't want to get left behind as the teams we are going to play against in rounds 1 and maybe 2 improve. It's almost like you sit it out to prove a point, YEAH these guys are overpriced so I'll show them by not getting involved and I won't fall for it. Yes now I have picks 52 and 54 in the draft next season. Yes I showed them. Oh wait we lost in the 1st round to the Caps because they added Glencross and Gleason...that stinks...but I proved my point and didn't fall for their game of overpriced players, and I have those two picks in the 50's as well. So the point is, good for you Mess you think these players are overpriced...awesome. And guess what...I pretty much agree with you, BUT that's the way it goes. You either get involved OR you sit it out and watch other teams improve and win the cup. I know which way I would go. You disagree, and that's all good. You did prove your point after all....
A team that's built with a window like the Rangers has to give up a few 1sts-3rds over a 4-5y period or you're getting caught in the trap of not winning and not picking high enough.
I agree sc. And AGAIN let's remember we did NOT really give up our 1st last season because we added Hayes, who is better than any player we would have added with the 29th pick. That never gets mentioned, but it is the truth. You cannot forget that. Deal a 2nd to improve the team now, and still have a 2nd anyway. Make the condition of your deal the team we trade with gets the worse 2nd round pick, and we keep the better one. DONE. And Hank is 33. And Nash is 30. And other guys are getting closer to 30. And we have 4 or 5 good kids ready to play. BUT let's hold # 52...LOL.
And you know me, a few years ago i wasn't willing to really deal 1sts but that was only when we were a md-pack team drafting in the 15-20 range and the team wasn't that well rounded. Now it's different since you can pretty much pencil them in the top 6-7 every year for the next few years. At that point you need to supplement and keep up with the Jonses or someone else lifts 35 lbs of silver a week before summer.
