For Klingberg Guess that answers the "who sits" question with Fast back. Bigger question is now we'd only have 12 NHL forwards, I have to assume someone will be added. Letestu is my guess.
Got Klingberg. Looking like they want to go with a double Swede connection on the 4th line with Fast and throw in Moore. I like it. He's 6'3, 205 lbs. This tells me that maybe they found a taker for Glass.
I expect Klingberg to make the team Prod. I don't think they got him to put him in the minors while giving up Stemp.
Doubtful he makes the team, he played two games all year for the Peg. I think this clears some cap space to add some bottom 6 depth, and maybe a faceoff guy like Letestu as Prod mentioned. If Sather pulled that off...wow. Might as well flip a 3rd or 4th for him now, what do we have to lose, go all in.
Scouting report on him. Sounds like a Ranger 4th liner. Klingberg's work ethic and his top notch skating skills are the strength of his game. He uses his significant size well and accelerates quickly. His technical skills and hockey sense are slightly above average, at best, but he loves driving to the net and creates a lof of scoring chances simply by using his quick feet. His biggest challenge will be to develop the patience and ability to recognize scoring opportunities more consistently. Klingberg's intensity is especially apparent on the forecheck and his aggressivenss in all three zones make him a difficult player to play against. He has good timing in his hits and rarely puts himself out of the play despite his physical style of play.
I will say this, if we don't deal for a Letestu type then I can see him here and maybe playing over Glass (AV's lover). But I still think we might add a Letestu type for faceoffs and some PK time.
That's too bad, i liked Stemp and thought he could be helpful down the stretch. A little risky going with Fast over him.
Hopefully Glen is still working the phones otherwise this does not make any sense to me. I thought depth on third and fourth lines was a primary concern?
I don't think so. I like Fast. He's excellent on the PK unit. His offense will come around. He's much faster than Stemp. Stempniak did a good job here. However, he doesn't have the speed or physical play that AV wants from a role player.
Yeah i'm with you on this one Step. I think Stemps experience and better scoring ability than a rookie in Fast will be missed, though i like Fast for the future. He was making a miniscule cap hit too which makes it somewhat odd.
The guy has 4 goals in his last 33 games, pretty sure we can get over that loss.... Especially if we now turnaround and add a FO depth forward like Letestu.
I guess, but at the same cap hit i'd rather have the experience of Stemp over Fast during this playoff situation. I guess they weren't trading Fast and LS was the salary to go.
Stemp would have been a nice guy to have around for a playoff run. But in the long run he doesnt give you much more than you wont get out of Fast, and Fast has the youth and upside. Either Stemp or Glass had to go to make room for a faceoff wing/C combo, and we all know Glass isnt going anywhere.
Give me Fast over Stemp. Stemp is a whatever player. As soon as he was dealt it was a lock we'd add someone else. Sheppard is a better fit, and bigger, and can win faceoffs (50% on 534 FO's). A great way to cap the DL by Sather. Awesome stuff. I thought today would be our day, but wow. This team is ready to win a cup now. Deeper upfront with some size added in Sheppard. Best D in the NHL. Hopefully Hank is back within 2 weeks or so. Away we go...LOVE IT.
