NEW YORK (Ticker) - All season, quarterback Troy Smith left no doubt about Ohio State's status as the best team in the country. The Heisman Trophy voting left no doubt about college football's best player. Smith, who led Ohio State to an unbeaten season and the top of the rankings, won the Heisman in record fashion, receiving the highest percentage of first-place votes. A senior, Smith was named the winner of college football's most prestigious award over Arkansas running back Darren McFadden and Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn. "Normally I'm pretty cool under pressure situations, but my heart is pounding right now," said Smith, who thanked Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel, his family and his teammates. The prohibitive favorite, Smith received 801 first-place votes and 2,540 points. His first-place votes represented the highest percentage in the history of the award, which dates to 1935. There was no regional bias, either. Smith received at least 389 points in all six voting regions. [IMG]

That guy is so mature, thats what I like about him. Instead of living off his athletic ability he learned the game...Everyone on that team loves Troy Smith. He really deserved it. His smarts and game preperation/work ethic will keep him in the NFL for a long time in my opinion.

I don't watch college football much, but I still think Quinn deserved it. He had better stats in almost every category, and his team only had 2 losses.

Troy Smith had it won a month ago, there shouldn't even be a debate on it. I was going to mention Hawaii's QB who had an amazing season but he did bad against one of the few good teams he played, Oregon State last week, so it just proves what everyone thought about him putting up big numbers against bad teams.Great season for Smith. I'm still unsure about what I think of him as a pro QB. I do believe that he will be a bit better than Young though.

Troy Smith one this thing against Michigan. They could of handed it to him after that game. This was probably the most obvious heisman pick ever. Brady Quinn WILL go alot higher then him in the draft. Smith's size will prohibit him in the NFL. I'm not saying that he won't be a solid starter, but I am saying he won't be a superstar. The NFL market for QB's is low right now, I'd expect him to go around the 15th pick. (Him being Troy Smith) and I'd expect Brady Quinn to be a top-tenner.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>mention Hawaii's QB who had an amazing season but he did bad against</div>Thats Colt Brennan.. he isn't like Timmy Chang from Hawaii last year, he's pretty solid actually. However, Hawaii passing about 50 times a game kinda wrecks his stats.

Troy Smith has a great arm, and uncanny acuracu and QB vision. He is the best player in college football right now, and he will be a great player in the NFL also, because like BCB said, he doesn't just rely on his athleticism.

Troy Smith deserved this 100 percent, everyone knew he was the most deserving candidate.

hopefully detroit wins the rest of their games so my Raiders can get the #1 pick.we make Smith learn his first year and sit him behind Aaron Brooks, then the following year we start him. GENIUS!!

If your teams lose out just to get Troy Smith, thats sad. Troy Smith isn't a top ten pick, at all.

Exactly Showtime, people don't seem to get that he's just not got the height for the NFL. There are only 2 QB's in the NFL shorter then him... Drew Brees and Mike Vick. I know, two good names but still, the chances of him being the third are crap.

McNabb is 1 inch taller.McNair is 1 inch taller.Romo is 1 inch taller.Favre is 1 inch taller.Kurt Warner used to be good and is 1 inch taller. And many more good QB's are 2 inches taller. Height is a stupid excuse not to pick a quarterback. Especially since he seems like the McNabb/McNair type of QB. I would pick him on my team. I don't know if he's a top 5 pick but he's a top 10 or top 15 pick definitely.

One inch may not seem like much but its alot for a quarterback. Thats probably atleast another 5 yards of vision that they have. Yeah, Its a stupid excuse, but its the reason that people won't take him. Thats why we don't get paid to draft players. [IMG]

They need more consistent play from their opponents. Playing all four service schools, common! :no3:

This was such an obvious choice this year. I dont think anybody needed to watch the presentation because everybody knew he was going to win it. He lead his team to an undefeated season (so far) and he had great personal stats. He deserved this 100 percent.
