While both are and will be great players for a long time, I will take Dwight Howard over Yao Ming. I think in order for a team to win gams, it has to do all the littler things like rebounding and playing good defense. When a team doesn't allow second chance points or a lot of points it will be much easier to win. Also Dwight can contribute on the offensive end because he is strong as hell and is a total beast. Howard is a much more physical player and that is the kind of play and intensity a team needs.

People get too rapped up in him getting dunked on...etc...Because of his size he's a big problem in the post for a lot of players. All the little things like defense and rebounding? Those aren't little things at all. I think Dwight Howard is a hell of a player but people completely low-ball Yao Ming, it's really frustraiting. The guy averages 26/10 and shoots over 50%...If Yao Ming were black he'd be getting a lot more praise from NBA fans...etc...thats my opinion.

Dwight. He's way more athletically gifted. Good rebounder and good scorer...he has tremendous upside and will be an allstar in this league. Plus, I just don't like Yao Ming.

His offensive game is pretty much just using his brute strength and athletic ability. He doesn't have many reliable moves in the post. Yao Ming blows him away on offense. I agree that Howard is going to be great and when he gets post moves he will be impossible to stop. How can you not like Yao Ming?

Ming is great and I dont care what race someone is, I dont care that Ming is Chinese or anything, I like Mike Bibby, Dirk, Dan Majerle and other players that aren't black. I think if Dwight was 7'6'' he would be scoring as much as Ming and would get like 20 rebounds. It also doesn't help Ming that he got blocked like a month ago by Nate Rob who is almost 2 feet shorter than him

Giant people like Yao are never great rebounders because of their slow lateral quickness.</div>What are you saying, if you are a foot taller than all the players(not counting that his arms are also bigger), you better eb getting soem rebounds. There is no explanation for why he shoudl not be grabbing rebounds like a maniac. I mena Shaq was able to do that and hes only 4 inches shorter. The thing si that Yao doesn't have teh strnght and agressiveness to pull down those rebounds

The thing si that Yao doesn't have teh strnght and agressiveness to pull down those rebounds</div> There is no explanation? I've given you an explanation. He has SLOWER THAN AVERAGE LATERAL QUICKNESS. WHICH IS A MAJOR REASON WHY HE IS NOT A DOMINATING REBOUNDER. AGAIN, YAO MING HAS SLOWER THAN AVERAGE LATERAL QUICKNESS WHICH IS A MAJOR REASON WHY HE IS NOT A DOMINATING REBOUNDER. SHAQ HAS GREAT LATERAL QUICKNESS AND YAO DOESN'T. GET THE DIFFERENCE? I DO. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU HAVE BIGGER ARMS. IF YOU HAVE SLOW LATERAL QUICKNESS IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOUR ARMS ARE TWICE AS BIG AS THE OTHER GUYS. SLOWER REACTIONS HAVE A HUGE IMPACT ON REBOUNDING. AGAIN. YAO MING HAS SLOWER THAN AVERAGE LATERAL QUICKNESS WHICH HURTS HIS REBOUNDING. AND AGAIN, HEIGHT DOESN'T MATTER WHEN IT COMES TO REBOUNDING IN MOST CASES. DO YOU FREAKIN' UNDERSTAND ME? OR FOR THE 5TH TIME ARE YOU GOING TO SAY 'HE'S 7'6 HE SHOULD HE GETTING 20 REBOUNDS BECAUSE HE'S VERY VERY TALL!' Ugh...

BCB I'm with you all the way on this one. Do you guys think if you have long arms the ball will just fall into your hands every time? Yao isnt agile, isnt particularly strong and will get bullied at times. His height gives him an advantage but its really a minor one. Why do you think charles barkley, 6'5 was one of the greatest rebounders ever? Its more than just height.
