http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/436..._isnt_involved/ <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>A source said one possible Allen Iverson scenario involving the Celtics was to send Theo Ratliff, Delonte West, Sebastian Telfair, and Al Jefferson to Philadelphia for Iverson. Gerald Green is reportedly untouchable. "I turned the TV on and there were rumors galore," said Doc Rivers. "I think I read that Bird, McHale, and Parish were going to be in the deal. "It's crazy what's going on. I hope it gets resolved for a lot of reasons. For every team whose name's involved, I hope it gets resolved. Two, Al has been great in the league and I hope that it's resolved for him and the Sixers." When asked if he would like to coach Iverson, a diplomatic Rivers said, "I like coaching the guys I coach right now."</div> That really just helped me breath a little bit better. Gerald is the guy I want to keep the most, and I am very happy that he is reportedly "untouchable" in a deal for AI. Gerald is going to be a hell of a player. Of course, you'll notice the little trade scenerio they shelled out (Theo, Delonte, Bassy, and Big Al for AI). Would you guys do that? I don't know, it's tough, especially after what Big Al did last night. Here's my take: - I would much rather deal Theo than Wally. - Delonte, I like him, but he doesn't really fit anymore with our PG's. - I like Bassy, but this would open up time for Rondo as the backup PG. That, I like a lot. - Big Al... ugh. This is the only tough part about it for me. But you know what? I just might do this deal. I'd think about it long and hard, but I think I might pull the trigger. - Also note that this says nothing about trading a pick. That, of course, I love. Now, if this deal even went down: C: Kendrick Perkins / Michael Olowokandi PF: Ryan Gomes / Brian Scalabrine / Leon Powe SF: Wally Szczerbiak / Gerald Green SG: Paul Pierce / Tony Allen / Gerald Green PG: Allen Iverson / Rajon Rondo / Allan Ray This also gives us an option of having Wally as a 6th man. Then you figure, there are a lot of good big men in this years' draft. Also guys, the thing I love about having AI in Boston - FREE AGENTS! We would get free agent interest.
That'd probably be the best we could do. Green should not leave this team at all, hes going to be a beast given proper minutes.
Wow this would really work out if the celtics got AI, even though their giving up some good players, they get AI in return and CB32 is right this upcoming draft has a lot of talented big men in it, if I was a celtic fan I would defiently welcome it.
I also read somwhere that a third team might have to be involved if this trade was to go down in the scenario where AI came to beantown. Anybody got any predictions on who that third team might be?I also agree with what you guys are saying. AI would bring a ton of free agent interest here...any free agent that wants to win and he looks at boston with a bunch of young talent along with AI and pierce? That looks very attractive.
Damn, that's a solid deal for the Sixers, they should just jump on that. I mean Jefferson, West, and Telfair are great young guys, Ratliff is a decent veteran big whose used to the surroundings. That and a high draft pick, really sets Philly up well.
Thank god, im not a huge boston fam, but I do enjoy watching Pierce play and I luv the potential that Green has. I did not want him to go to Philly were he would be surrounded by loosers. If Boston can actually get AI and keep Green they will defenetly be a good team
Sure, free agents will be interested, but does Boston have much cap space to sign some solid free agents, or will they have to rely mostly on the MLE each year?

But if we give up Theo's contract, and deal 2-3 of these young guys, we will not have to re-sign so many guys (I only see a guy like Gerald Green and maybe Al Jefferson being guys to get semi-big deals in the future). We have some cash, we could get something done. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I would rather have rondo then telfair, and I would want a pick included..</div> I'll cry if Rondo and Big Al leave, but Ainge is a smart guy he won't trade more than 1 guy with real good potential. Also, with the pick, I would really rather make it a future pick, like 08 or 09. This years draft class is just too deep and full of good young players, especially bigs. And if we give up a guy like Al Jefferson, it wouldn't be so bad in the end if we ended up with a guy like Al Horford, Aaron Gray, or Al Thornton in the draft. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Damn, that's a solid deal for the Sixers, they should just jump on that. The only thing that would be tough for me is letting Big Al go. He really has All-Star potential. But at the same time, I understand you have to give something to get something, and at the end of the day I'd be happy to keep Gomes/Jefferson (one of them), Gerald, and Rondo. I mean this would be awesome, really. We'd keep some real young talent in Green/Rondo/Gomes/Perk, as well as a good young defender in TA, then have a 3 headed monster of Pierce/AI/Wally. Plus the great draft class this year. I would really like that. And as Rok said, this deal would really set up Philly well.
It's sad because you still won't win jack sh*t...you have three big scorers and nobody that plays defense...the cycle continues...
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (playaofthegame @ Dec 10 2006, 10:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>TA and Rondo actually BCB2 players is better than 0</div> Yeah...but those two don't play that much. Iverson would be a big media addition and make things interesting...but I don't know if it will change the losing ways in Boston.
That's what the Celtics need again. They need to get themselves back in discussion in Boston. You probably haven't seen the drastic change since you don't live here, but the Celtics have fallen off the map lately because of their lack of winning and the Red Sox and Patriots increase of winning. The Celtics need some fan support again and I think it will boost lost prestige and morale, which will lead to the Celtics winning again.

Iverson would be a big media addition and make things interesting...but I don't know if it will change the losing ways in Boston.</div> If we gave up Delonte and Telfair like this article states the offer was, then Rondo and TA would surely get more playing time than they do now. Not all that much more, but more. Rondo would actually be in the rotation, which I love. Also BCB, you know, maybe we won't win a championship with Iverson/Pierce, but we will SURELY improve. Not to mention we will still have some good young players, and AI coming here would automatically make us a solid free agent target. I think we would improve no doubt, we would have a lot more positive energy, more fan support, more free agent interest, more national exposure. We would be a winning team again with two superstars and good young talent. I would love it. Also, playaofthegame, you forgot to mention Perk in the defense discussion. He's a pretty decent low post defender, he's big, he's a very good shot blocker, and he has a little bit of that intimidation factor in the middle. That will only continue to grow as he matures.
^^ he fouls too muchI love his defensive presence but he should of went to college..he has to learn how to take it to next level and be a GREAT defender..with that he has to learn to not hack
Why is Green untouchable? He gets unfair bench splinters right now. With the emergence of JR Smith and Monta Ellis, don't you think he #1 high school baller in his class should at least start? He should either get playing time right now or be traded. Because he is riding the bench when he's ready to unleash his poteintal.

He's got the talent. All he needs is the playing time.
I think this would be great. We'd have a GREAT trio of Wally, Paul, and Iverson. Or if it is a three-way, wally can be traded for a big, which we would desperately need.iverson/rondopierce/allenwally/greengomes/scalperk/kandithat team would most likely win the atlatic, although we'd be more than desperate for anyone over 6'8. If all else fails we can just sign pittsnogle again.
