Right in the feels. You cant watch that and not feel bad. You can tell he is in utter shock and disbelief.
That's what I'm saying man, this shit could actually end up working out if AAA can mesh. This could push the team to another level.
Don't talk contract value... Talk I hope you recover Bro....Next (men) up. Lets win everything for WM. Fly banners, crash cars, drink warm beer, get behind him....
+> Thats the view. Its like a flesh wound in a Bruce Willis movie. Get on and take em out. Inspiration on the plate for the team to eat.
FUCK. First off, I feel for Wes. No one enjoys the game of basketball more than him. And for this to happen in a contract season, that's awful. Secondly, I feel for Rip City. This type of shit keeps happening to our team and makes me wonder what the fuck we have to do to win a championship. FUCK.
Did he say "hopefully we meet again" at the end of that interview? I hope Portland signs him. Obviously he's not going to get the contract he originally deserved, that's just business and he knows that. I just want to see him get health and finish his career at Portland. Even if his game drops off, he'd be killer off the bench.
This. I cant even sleep. Now win a fucking ring for Wesley and he can win another one next year because he's a blazer for life. Ill guarantee wes will yell at anyone who tries to use him as an excuse to give up. It's time for everyone to take on his attitude and crush opponents
This really sucks, obviously. It's probably way too early to try to put a positive spin on this, but here goes. Of our starters he was the one guy who is somewhat replaceable. There's obviously nobody who can do what LMA/Lillard do. Batum impacts in so many ways on both ends that he's not easily swapped. We tanked pretty badly when Lopez went down, because there's nobody to defend/rebound like him. But Wes, at his core, is still a 3-and-D guy. Yes, he has a nice post game (so does AAA) and he's a massive energy guy (so is Gee), and he's a great locker room influence. But the core capabilities he brings can largely be replaced. From an emotional point of view, yes, this is just as terrible as Roy or Oden going down. He's the heart of the team. From an actual "help us win games" point of view, it isn't nearly on that level. There's a long history of guys who can hit threes reliably playing fantastically next to two All Stars. Lots of open shots, because you are always the 3rd or 4th worry for the opposing defense. Even more open shots when you have a well-oiled offense like Stotts runs. Matthews played that role very well, but I think we're going to find that AAA does too. And maybe a few other guys too. I expect Wes to come back because he's such a hard worker. I'm a massive fan. But I think his contract value will drop not just because his achiles makes him damaged goods. I think a lot of teams are going to look at how well AAA (and maybe CJ or Gee) plays to finish out the season, and realize some of his value is just because of the role he was put in.
I think that the deadline is about players who are waived by a certain date being eligible for the playoffs. I believe if a player is waived before March 1st, he can play in the playoffs. If he's waived after March 1st, he can't. I believe if they sign a player who never signed a contract with an NBA team, he is eligible. I could be wrong.
