2 of them at home. Lots of time to rest and practice no prepare for the stretch run without Wes. I really feel good about our chances even without Wes. Go Blazers!!!
I hope you're right, but I don't think you can just replace a guy like Wes. Yeah Afflalo will start but what happens with the bench unit? Can CJ play well enough to get us deep into the playoffs? Its going to be tough.
As I've said in other threads, the 2010-11 Dallas team lost their second best player (Caron Butler) during the season and still won the championship. Stotts knows this. Also, I remember in 2009, the Magic lost All Star Jameer Nelson midseason and they picked up Rafer Alston and made it to the NBA Finals.
Different teams different years different players different competition. I hope you're right, I just feel so bad for Wes.
Caron Butler wasn't their second best player. Tyson Chandler was. Shawn Marion was probably third although it was a deep balanced team. Jason Kidd and Jason Terry both played great as well. Peja and Corey Brewer were more capable backups than we have. As others have said the starters might be fine but now our bench is back to being weak. Obviously LaMarcus is our best player and we'd have no shot without him but losing Wes dramatically lowers our chances. We now have no room for any other injuries and less lineup flexibility.
I agree. Plus, the west is so stacked this year. I guess we will just have to wait to see how this team performs without Wes to get a better judgement of how the rest of the season will go.
Exactly. Too many factors to look at to say that just because these things happened, means we have some sort of magical destiny.
