That really was Wes' last game as a Blazer, wasn't it?

I sure hope your right but the Blazers might not think they are offending Wes and think their offer is fair and Wes doesn't. THAT is what I am afraid of.

There's no such thing as an offer sheet in this situation. Teams can sign him to a contract day 1 and we can't do anything to stop it.

So, we can't put a contract out there and he chooses the one that's best for him? That would seem more than fair...

Big difference between being dumped and leaving on your own. That was a sad parting, and Jerome was beloved by all and came back because his heart was here, and he never left by choice - we cut ties with him. If Wes has some ridiculous offer that he cannot refuse and we're low-balling him, that's one thing. But ultimately, we'll see where Wes is in 10 years. That's the ultimate answer.

This. I used Marshawn. But Paul Allen stuck his neck out their on the Roy Extension. He knew he had a bad knee. And he still took care of him. Maybe it was unwise but he did.

He was picked up by TOR in the expansion draft, waived before the season and then signed with GS (Adelman was the head coach). C'mon Speed, you're enough of a fan to know this stuff cold!

Wes will always be a blazer to me. He started the coats for kids thing in portland, he invested in the community. I havent lived in oregon for over 2 years now but it's always home to me, I love the people, the weather, the beer, the countryside, the scenery, and especially the trail blazers. To me wes is a lot like kersey, hes just that kind of great person that seems to be common in oregon. He started on the jazz but the blazers knew he was special. I believe paul allen will take care of him because paul loves his team and his community.

On top of this I think portland really won wesleys heart. Our core guys have something special a lot of teams dont. They are a lot like the young duncan ginobli and parker core, I think they are destined to stay together and do great things.

I liked it all. I actually miss the snow. It rains a lot here but I lol when schools close because it might snow in the next state over.

Jesus, none of this negative shit, please. I put up with enough of that on 49er Forum, thank you.

This is a bad setback. But it is not the end of Wes in Portland.

Even if his D drops off, he will be more than a bench rotation player with a good three point shot.
He will bring will and character.
How many teams, champions and contenders, have a player on their bench who plays minimal minutes but brings it in the locker room?
Wes can be that guy for us at very least.
It won't pay as much as he thought he was going to get before the injury but nothing will now.
I say we sign hime to a 2 year deal with a team option on the second year so that way he doesn't feel the pressure to impress us his first year back.
If he plays well enough, we take the second year option.
Then he should be as 100% as one could be for that second season and then he can prove himself for the next contract.
Plus it mught be better for him because the cap space should be going up too.

No. Mathews will be back. He's a tough cookie. He's dealt with people counting him out before. The Blazers
    will bring him back.

KP stuck Paul's neck out for him, which is why he got the axe.

I'd say it's likely he will stay. And who knows how Afflalo will work out here. If he doesn't impress, we may not even offer him enough to stay.

As hard as that statement is to read it sure is true. Everyone is putting a lot of stock into Afflalo being "Wes like". Simply put there are few players like Wes.

That's not going to get it done. It would not only be underpaying it would be an insult.

Wes will be well worth the risk on a short term contract of at least a good sixth man level, or better -- just not the crazy numbers people were throwing around two weeks ago.

And then there's the loyalty factor. A little bit of loyalty is not only the right thing to do, but it also engenders a bit of loyalty from others, and makes the Blazers a more desirable destination for players.
