...will likely have surgery which also likely end his career....$37.5 Mil in parting gifts (remaining salary) for doing nothing...nice gig.

Smoke 'em if You got 'em.....!

At least Cashman didn't fk this one up, rather a good move to of looked the other way....the last 2 years.

I had a feeling this was going to happen, at least its not at the Yanx expense....!

So with that news I'm guessing Hamels stay in Philadelphia.

I bet Hamels is taken off the market, at least out of the Fresh Meat Section....!!!

...^^^ I dunno...that's what some people have been speculating but hell, Philly is gonna be terrible this year anyway. So why not go ahead and get something of value in return for him. IMO, Hamels will be gone by the end of ST and if not by then he'll surely be traded before the trade deadline.
...I mean, I gotta believe that a contender is either going to have a pitcher of their own to go down with an injury or they simply wanna get stronger for the stretch run and the post season.

I made that same prediction in the Yankees Trade For Hammels thread. Had read that Lee was having problems. When Hammels signed his deal the Phillies Staff looked OK then went down like a submarine. If Boston wants him fine, I think the Yankees should retain their prospects. On the other hand if the Yankees could trade Capuano or Lord Big Man straight up one for one and get Hammels then OK.

Several of us, have been saying we'd love to see Hamels in PinStripes, I know I would. Great Point 59, Philly does stink, watched their 2 games vs the Bums, and Yep, they do stink,

(tho' ST is not always a good indicator of the Reg Season)....as you well know. Andy Phillips comes to mind, ST 2006 I believe, hit .400 thru ST, yet hit .240 during the 110 games he started at 1st, when Giambi was the DH most of that year.)

Phillips was a big disappointment at least in my books, with 29 hits, 30 Runs Scored, age 29,

...matts, like everyone else, I've only heard rumors of the types of prospects Philly is demanding in a trade involving Hamels but if they're wanting something like Severino and Judge (rumor), I say no f'n way...like you said, yeah, I'd love to have Hamels in NY but not at that price... plus pay all of his salary?

...I'd rather see Seve and Judge on the Yanx roster for the next 10 years or so than have Hamels for 4-5 years.

I definitely agree with you on this one. I'd rather see a Young Prospect develop into a Stud, than pay Big Bucks $$$ for Hamels; regardless.

At least the Yanx aren't doing like the Bums have been this year, offloading shitloads of heavy cash bound players, ie Kemp, rumours now of Ethier too. Both Players, the Bums say, will be paid at least half of their Bums salary by the Bums themselves.

Now that is pure desperation at its worst, IMO. To off a hi-stakes player, and pay half or more of his wages. Esp; when such off loaded players come back to kick their old teams ass....!

NTM- I'm still stunned the ONE player those Bums offed in a trade, was their one Farm Hand, who did develop his skills, and IMO was/is vital to their success, ie Flash Gordons Son Dee. Now that just did NOT make sense, at least to me...?

...I think I read somewhere awhile back that the Dodgers are already eating over $30 Mil in salaries this year from players who are no longer with them...might be more than that now.

I'm inclined to agree with 59 here... He wants out of Philly very much & has made that abundantly clear out here... He'll get moved if not pre-season, definitely by the trade deadline.

One tiny lost in the shuffle step for the Yankee GM, one big chuckle by same GM benefitting the Yankee Universe over the long haul.

I'm betting your right 59, I've got a busy week this week, but will find time somewhere in b/t to find out exactly as of NOW, just how much cash the Bums are in fact eating. Every trade they've made, they've gone out of their way, to tell Teams interested in guys like Kemp, et al. They will be happy to pay most of their 2015 Bums salary.

The Dumbest thing I have heard in ages.........and I expect a helluva lot more ignorant talk by Bums Brass on this issue.

I'll post the $$ figure here soon, of how much they are paying players who aren't even on the Team anymore.....unless someone beats me to it....!

...^^^ matts, though I can't find a breakdown, the latest estimate is that the Dodgers are actually eating closer to $50 Mil this year and they are also now talking about getting rid of Ethier and eating as much as 1/2 of his contract.

Thanks, I could not surprisingly find one article with the Bums exact amount of money spent offloading players and their contracts, either. Your figures look as legit as what I've been hearing.

Must be nice to throw away that much money. Nicer yet to have that much money to toss out...

I forgot about offing these 2- Brian Wilson and Dan Haren; both cut from the team, as the Bums eat their contract money.

I've heard more than I can find in writing on the I-Net. I do see where Kenley Jansen is on the cutting block with the Bums stating they will eat 4 Mil or more of his 8.5 MIL contract, yet he's on the DL.

Kemp, I found will get 18 MIL of his $22, 225, 000. Mil paid for by the Bums this year, with the Pods paying the paltry remainder. The Bums will continue to pay 3.5 Mil of Kemp's remaining $21, 750,000. salary thru 2019.....

I tell ya' Guggy is flat out making a mockery out of MLB.
