you are not Blazer Maniac...kj. my post was not directed at you, 11 posts in 2 years and I'd guess every one of his was a Batum stirring thread. Nic owns a franchise in France and is invested in his national team. Pacing himself and staying healthy are concerns he'll have to address. I personally don't have a problem with world competition in the offseason and yes, I know a lot of folks do. I think bringing this topic up when Nico is showing leadership and stepping up is a buzz kill

Yea you are right riverman I hate the French that makes sense. Ever since the Blazers were stupid enough to sign Batum to this stupid contract, he disappears more than he plays. When he is on there is no one better in the SF position. But how often is that? He does a disappearing act more than he is on. His priority should be to the team who is paying him $10M a year or more. Has it been, not at all.

Speaking of disappearing acts...where have you been when we were winning all season? You resurfaced just to rehash our Batum disagreement? Again, I value Nico as a Blazer. Those old Blazer Maniac, Blazer Fanatic arguments were epic! That girl could argue a point.

I think playing for your country is an honor and I'd do the same thing, so I don't begrudge Nic at all. I wanted Aldridge/Lillard to make the US team so it'd be hypocritical of me to say otherwise.

But it certainly doesn't help the Blazers...

I have been here, just my life was crazy had had very little extra time. This article sent my blood pressure through the roof. That is hard to do since I am on Blood Pressure medication to raise my Blood Pressure.

My point is that I would like Batum to commit just one summer to the Blazers to get healthy and then see what he does.

Yea I got tired arguing with Blazer Fanatic. I think she was an Attorney.

my "Club before Country" mantra from Soccer is bleeding over to Basketball. But I get it. Hope he does well, but hope he heals up too!

I am sick and tired of this crap, I say trade him this summer and move on. I don't mind him playin for his country once in a while but he does it every fukkin summer and that toll is now breaking his body down, I say good riddance! He is of course entitled to play every summer if he chooses and the Blazers can also choose not keep him as a player, my view is trade him.

that's cool, though I'd surmise they certainly aren't going to voice their opinion on this in case they do decide to trade him and frankly IMO I can't believe they want to see him playing every summer given how it appears to be effecting his body and play

After 2016 Olympics he will be the face of French basketball because IIRC Parker is gonna retire after the Olympics. He is never gonna stop, he's patriotic. The best thing the Blazers can do is give him the first 2 weeks of the season off to rest. That's only 6-7 games but could make a lot of difference when you also factor is the ASB.

I gotcha. And who knows, maybe they cant stand his play, its just no one will take the contract that some feel he isnt worth :)

I guess for me, one injury has been affecting his play and thats been this year. All the other years he's been same old Nic. (for better or worse)

Dude, we should be taking notes out of the Spurs book. Resting our best players periodically throughout the season, if Batum/LA/Wes/Lopez/Dame all miss 5-10 games due to rest is it really gonna kill us in the long run? Playoffs is about who is best rested and who has the best depth.
