If Brooks and Hinrich are having a "which PG sucks worse" contest over the last 8 games, you'd have to award each of them a Gold Medal. AB- 29.1 min, 32.1% FG, 24.3% 3's, 76.9% FT, 4.4 AST, 2.0 TO, 0.63 STL, 12.6 PTS, .409 TS%, .362 eFG%, -7.2 per 48 KH- 20.6 min, 36.4% FG, 22.2% 3's, 50.0% FT, 2.3 AST, 1.5 TO, 0.38 STL, 4.6 PTS, .412 TS%, .409 eFG%, -7.3 per 48 I certainly wouldn't say that Brooks is fine starting, but I guess that's just a matter of opinion. Thibs must not have a problem with it, he keeps right on doing it, no matter how unsuccessful it is. Amazingly, Thibs still refuses to even try Moore at PG, even though he has played some PG in each of his first 3 NBA seasons (approximately 700 minutes total). Of course, he did find time to play Brooks and Hinrich at the same time for 15:13 over the last 8 games, and the team was -12 in that time. The Bulls were 3-2 in the first five games without Rose, but 0-3 in the last three, having been outscored by 35 points. In the 82:50 Brooks has played in the last three games, the team is -44. In the 61:33 Hinrich has played in the last three games, the team is +5. Judging by the last three games, if Thibs still won't play Moore at PG going forward, maybe it's time to put Hinrich back in the starting lineup?
Brooks is fine starting. His best games over the past 8 compare with DRose. 22 point/8 assist kind of games. Those are kinds of games we've seen from Brooks. Not from Kurt. No contest.
Brooks was +17, so a 35 point swing in Brooks' favor. But yeah, the intelligent bulls fan says we should start Kirk.
Brooks was awesome tonight, but that doesn't erase the fact that he was downright horrible over the previous 8 games. Let's hope he can keep it up, since Thibs refuses to even try Moore at PG. And how bad has Brooks been over the previous 8 games, that his eFG% and TS% were worse than Hinrich's?? Tony Snell has had the following games over the last 15: 7/10 FG, 5/6 3pt 19 PTS 9/11 FG, 4/6 24 PTS 9/11 FG, 4/6 22 PTS 7 11 FG, 4/6 20 PTS 7/13 FG, 4/7 21 PTS Those compare to Steph Curry, doesn't mean... Of course, if Brooks keeps giving us 31 point games, it makes it harder for folks to bitch about the roster GarPax built, but I guess we can't all be happy all the time?
Ding ding ding. There are ~80 shots a game. Someone has to take them. Even Kirk can score 20 on some nights if he takes 30 shots.
40+ minutes for Niko last night? Thibs is going to injure him. McDermott got 10 minutes last night so that's good. Hinrich did play the 3rd most minutes out of our four guards, so that's a big negative takeaway. Drill sergeant Thibs had 5 guys playing 35+ minutes and three of them with over 40. Paxson might need to get the brass knuckles out of the skybox drawer again.
I don't care, I just look at the minutes played and get angry at Thibs. What was he thinking? (trying the win the game most likely)
Green is sarcasm right? I agree with your previous assessment that Niko is going to get hurt post haste if he continues to play these types of minutes. He's already got the bum shoulder and thumb. I've been happy to see Nazr get minutes the last few games. I just wish Thibs would be able to have worked Bairstow into the rotations because he seemed to fare okay at power forward. I'll admit that I would not be particularly concerned if Snell played forty because hes young, plays the wing and its not a regular thing.
Yah, it is. The thing is, they barely beat the Sixers last night. If you play Baristow 10 minutes, you likely lose. At some point, you have to try and win the games, right? Its not like the Bulls have been racking up the wins as of late.
You know what Noah does with Hinrich? He screws with him. I guess during the OT last night Noah yelled 3 times down to the end of the bench, where Kirk was sitting, that Thibs wanted him in the game. All three times were false alarms. This was Noah "apologizing." He was having none of it. Kirk is just some poor broken dude at the end of the bench now to clown on. mr bull.
You seem to be looking at it like: it was an overtime game. One basket would have decided the affair, and Mirotic is better than Baristow so the Bulls would have lost if they gave him substantive minutes? I just not convinced that's right. Mirotic struggled the entire second half, which should have been completely expected. I'd be willing to bet that Mirotic has never played forty minutes in his entire life, unlike many other NBA players who did that in high school. I mean, that guy basically played at most 28 minutes a game his entire basketball career. This is the whole debate about the Popovic way. You can cling to the top of your roster. But if you embrace the fact that your entire roster is comprised of NBA players, you'll get all kinds of performances you never expected. Baristow has looked like an NBA player to me. I have trouble envisioning him as a starter, but I also would be somewhat surprised if he doesn't have a long NBA career. Big men usually have a long, soft growth arc and Baristow always has looked like he's belonged. You allocate some of the minutes to Baristow that Mirotic wasn't prepared for, and I could see an easier victory.
I've actually liked what I've seen from Bairstow. I don't see any All-Star games in his future, but he seems to play with a very good grasp of the game and is able to get to spots. His jumper is very good. I'm with SST on this one......this was a natural place for him to get some burn, but my sense of forgiveness is large given our roster ATM.
I'm not opposed to seeing him get burn, but I think Thibs sees him daily and in practices. He knows what he brings. Certainly Nazr is going to be called ahead of Bairstow in the playoffs, should either be needed. Nazr needs some PT, too. I'm not thrilled with Nazr being on the team at all. We could have had a capable younger player. We once had Aaron Gray, who actually started 19 games for us. He managed to remain in the league until last season. Where is Erik Murphy?
