To me this is awesome news. 4 weeks from today is April 9, we host Ottawa. The regular season ends April 11.

If he misses the last 16 games, I am fine with that. Half those games are against teams out of the playoffs (if you count Ottawa as out). Split evenly home and away.

I take this as a huge positive. We are going to finish 1st or 2nd in the division with or without Klein. So back for game 1 round 1 is all I care about. Good break for him.

I see what your saying Chuck but I would never take an injury as a positive. He could get hurt again come playoff time

The injury is not a positive, sorry if it came across like that. The positive is he'll be back for the playoffs, and frankly that is all that matters to me. Maybe he can play the last game or two just to get his timing back.

Strud, you need positive intervention. Yes,
Klein will be missed. Hopefully, he will
return in better condition. When you pit
12 men on skates in a confined area, injuries
are part of this sport. Just hope injuries
    are kept at a minimum.

The injury could have been worse. So, who takes
    his place?

Can this franchise go without one season where they don't have a major injury to one of their important players just right BEFORE the playoffs start? CK last year, Cally the year before. Unbelievable.

If he is back for game 1, and considering the playoffs start 33 or 34 days from today he should be back for sure, I just don't see this as a major issue at all. He misses 15 of the last 16 games or all 16, not a big deal IMO. We don't have a crazy hard schedule and we won't finish worse than 2nd, and I say we'll still finish 1st.

If the 3-4 weeks is 100% accurate and legit, I don't see this as a major issue. All that matters is the playoffs now IMO.

It is not a major issue but you gotta be concerned. Klein can be rusty because of not playing for over a month.

He could be, or maybe he is back for the last regular season game. Or maybe he only misses 3 weeks and gets a few games back. Or maybe since it is arm and not legs he will stay in shape and be back for game 1. Or maybe he is back game 1 and is himself again in game 3.

Any of those options are MUCH better than what I was thinking earlier today when I was concerned he'd miss the season or a couple of rounds at least.

Atleast it's not the year. He should be ready to go for the playoffs.

    All that matters.

TB just lost 3 players today for weeks. Isles lost Leddy today for at least two weeks. We can deal with this fine as well. Just be back for game 1...all that matters.

i wouldn't blow this off as if nothing is bad...yes Klein should be back at the right time...hank should be back right in time...or....

one thing you need to think about...will AV now over play McD, Danny G, Staal, Yandy??

It could have been worse. He could have missed the rest of the year. So, I'll take this as a positive. I want Mcilrath in there. The Yandle trade was huge. You have a much better chance of developing McIlrath by putting him with Yandle.

I don't think he will Al, because quite frankly he doesn't have to. We play some teams we should beat. We are in a great position to be top 2 in the Met worst case. Not sure why he would push those guys like crazy to what end? Get a few extra points for home ice in round 2 or round 3 or round 4? Seems pointless to me when home ice doesn't mean all that much anyway.

I would expect the guys will stay around their normal minutes. Low 20's per game, here and there McD gets a few more.

Just let Hunwick finish out the season, he's adequate enough to get them through until the playoffs. If they drop a spot so be it.

I think AV is being pennywise and pound foolish if he doesn't bring up big mac with the way he's playing down below for the past few months and spot him with Hunwick. Hunwick has been ok but he's not someone to keep someone who still has an upside down below. Perfect opportunity with our lead and some of the teams we have coming up to get the kid some experience with yandle or staal. Klein sounds like he'll be back for the playoffs but who the hell knows with what is being reported as a broken arm. And if we get some injuries (god forbid) in the playoffs and need the kid up here it would be nice if he's played some games with the team. AV just needs to tell the kid no fights under any circumstances unless he gives ok and the kid should be fine. And with some of the teams we could see in the playoffs (bruins, caps, islanders) the extra muscle may come in handy. Just my 2 cents.
