Is he the possible key in addition to other pieces to bring in the top center? What teams out there need an upgrade at goaltender that we can work with?
He could be a solid piece of a deal, but I think I'd rather keep him and have his numbers as a backup this year. It's almost like having HL play 82 games.lol
this brings avalid point but in my opinion i dont believe much because there are so many goalies out there that arent' going to be expensive, such as miller, hiller etc, i dont see anybody making a move for a backup soon to be starter, even brodeur is out there.
If AV plays Skapski a few more times before the deadline and he does well I could see him drawing interest but honestly Al I don't see how Glen would be able to move an imposter like Talbot. Don't be fooled by his 6-1-2 record in the Rangers last 10 games as a fill in for Hank or his .911 save % (a full 0.011% lower than Hank's) since it actually Chuckjusts to a mere .895%. Luckily Glen only signed Talbot for a year, who wants a clown like Cam shooting off his mouth about wanting to be a starter (the nerve!). I think after Cam's career of 41 games as a backup/terrible starter there's sufficient data to show it would take a miracle for Glen to move this bum.
Don't be angry panzer. I am cool with Cam now. Not getting worked up by his poor gaa or sv% since he has been the starter. We are winning, which is # 1 by far. He is a good solid backup goalie, and that is how I will view him. No one can argue he has played well during his starting stint here, but to me since we are winning it's all good. To me he is still a solid backup and when put in the right spots by AV I expect him to play well again. All good.
He's a decent backup playing behind one of the best in the world. It's like asking what would be the value of the guys who played behind Broduer or Roy.
I'm sure Sather will get a considerable offer for him in the off season and he would be stupid not to move him. They have two excellent future goalie prospects. Skapski has done nothing to disappoint either in the AHL. I could see Buffalo trying for him with Grigorenko and a second. Not that I'm high on Grigorenko because I'm not. He has a lot of work to do. However, he's 49% on draws and he's a 6'3 center. Probably can play wing. They might be able to develop him into a good player.
If we get solid offers the smart play is to deal Cam for sure. He is only signed for one more year and we have almost zero shot to resign him longer. He wants to be a starter, and after this stretch he will get a chance most likely (unless he was horrible next season). The more you think about it, it is the play for sure. I think they have to move him. Unless they are okay with letting him walk for nothing and/or get bad offers/think they could get a better offer at the trade DL, I think you have to move him this summer.
I think we trade him and can get a one for sure in this draft. Cam has played well under fire and has been impressive in our surge through some tough teams on the road in our run to first place
Nobody will give up a first for one year of Talbot, and the Rangers would be better off just keeping him through next year as maybe the best backup in the league. You never know what could happen to HL during the season or playoffs and he's a nice security blanket.
71, if the rangers don't get a first or at least a low second which I think they will they will most likely keep him for next year.
I don't think the Rangers would want a first back for Talbot rather than an NHL ready, young prospect with size. That's why I think Grigorenko and a 2nd would be a possibility.
If you really step back and look at it logically, the Rangers should deal him assuming they can get a 2nd OR an NHL ready prospect/player that can play for us next season. Barring some major Hank injury, Cam is gone after next season...100% gone. He wants to be a starter, that is why he resigned for only one year BEFORE his great stretch here. He will get solid money elsewhere to be a starter. So you know he is 100% gone, that makes the only play to deal him at the draft unless the offers for him are so minimal, then you keep him and play it out. I don't expect that to be the case though. Barring some sort of injury situation, I expect Cam to be dealt prior to next season.
I agree he will sign elsewhere but i think they feel he has more value here for next season as a great backup over a 2nd or 3rd rd pick. Plus, assuming it's a bottom rung team, why would they give up a high pick unless he's absolutely assured to re-sign there? And who would be our backup Skapski?Yann Denis?lol
If you can't get a solid return you don't deal him. If you can you should deal him IMO. That's how I see it. I don't think it is more complicated than that.
