When it comes to players giving back to the community who would it be? Obviously some people would know players better than other because they know what to do for the city of their respectful team. But one name that jumps out at me is Steve Nash. He always runs that charity game every year, has his own Steve Nash foundation, has those basketball dvds (which do give back in a way), and is always doing charity stuff in Canada here, espcially in Toronto and Vancouver.
Idk. You really cant pick one player. Since normally their team or agent starts/gets players involved with charity stuff. But seems like "star" players get the most attention on charity work. Such has LeBron

Dikembe Mutombo - obviouslyJermaine O'neal - His brawl suspension went from 25 games to 15 games because of his active role in the communityGilbert Arenas - Many sweet stories out their about himAlonzo Mourning - gave a year's worth salary to kidney researchRay Allen - Ray of Hope foundation, gives deserving people homes
Mutombo is probably the biggest community contributor. He has just done so much for Africa and the cities he has played for in the NBA. Mt. Mutombo is a great man. Another guy that hasn't been mentioned is Antoine Walker. He always is involved in charity events, being out there with the kids, and he even has The 8 Foundation. Toine has a great heart.
Walter McCarty was one of the most profoundly active players in the Boston community when he was on the Celtics....he was a guy that flew under the radar with the charity work. He would never be in a lot of photos or anything but he was always doing something with the inner city in Boston. I agree with Mutombo, he might not do a lot of charity work in America but he has donated an incredible amount of money to his homeland of Congo. This summer Dikembe donated $15 MIL of a total $29 MIL which was spent to build a hospital named after his mother in the republic of congo.

When he was in Orlando he spent every thanksgiving and Christmas it seems like with the kids in homes and stuff. He was always giving money to them, did commercials, he has alot of heart.

Just shut up and leave.Nash and Mutumbo are my choices for sure.

I really don't see any reason for acting like this.
Guys, Jermaine's suspension was knocked down from 25 to 15 because he was an active person in the community, and he never had had an incident before. Jermaine is a very active guy. So, how do I know this? I live in Indy. You always here about JO calling kids on their birthdays, donating money to schools, helping out serve food ... all kinds of things. Believe me, I know. And my post wasn't biased. Know why? Because I mentioned like 6 other guys who do as much or more than JO in the community.
Charlie V deserves a mention. He made some kind of charity fund for kids with the same hair loss disease that he has, and he donates money for research and stuff. He has done alot for a guy who has only played one season in the NBA, and isnt as financially set as veterans in the NBA...I was attending the Raptor game where he got the community service award for the month...
