HCP, Read this. http://www.reddit.com/r/keto/wiki/faq I have been stuffing myself and the pounds still melt away. For dinner last night, I had an 18 oz steak, a can of black soybeans, and a huge salad. That's a LOT of food. And it tastes great because it has fat (flavor).
That's awesome! I love that feeling of clothes that used to be too tight now being too loose. I've dropped 10 inches off the waist so far. I'm twopounds away from my next goal of 75lbs lost, trying hard to make it soon. I actually just got back from a 25 mile bike ride at 12.22 mph, with for me is fast.
Made my middle goal of 75lbs dropped. Last thanksgiving I weighed 310, now I weigh 235lbs. Next goal is 100lbs lost, hopefully ill hit it by my birthday on may31st.
Most likely, I'm getting this big bell bag of skin, hopefully it tightens up, sometimes it does over a couple years, but most likely I'll have to get surgery. I've lied to my doctor and told her I am getting rashes from the skin so that I can hopefully create a medical reason to get it removed and have insurance pay. Otherwise, it will be the price of a car.
Another 1.4 lbs down since yesterday. We went to Outback for dinner last night. I had a 9oz sirloin with grilled shrimp, sautéed vegetables, and a Caesar salad (no croutons). I'm starting to wonder if I can stop losing weight easily and go into maintenance mode. By my calculations, I might need to eat 4000 calories. It's rough!
I'm up to 190lbs at 5'9". 200lb is my goal then lean out 10lbs. Doing some beercan chicken tonight on the traeger after the Zags game. With a side of asparagus. Ohhhh how I love asparagus!
I saw my doctor yesterday to compare my lipid panel results from a year ago (pre keto diet) and from this year. The tests were taken 50 weeks apart, or almost a year to the day. My overall cholesterol level was unchanged. Any concerns about eating so much fat raising my cholesterol level put to rest. My HDL (good cholesterol) level was high at 57 (>39 is ideal). My VLDL level dropped from 26 to 21. The only surprise was my Triglycerides went up from 106 to 131. She said the number is in the sweet spot and that it can vary a lot from day to day even. It is a surprise because it is expected to go down due to eating less carbs. Otherwise she told me my risk for heart disease and stroke are minimal and the results are good.
Update Still working on my health. I gave blood tuesday and they checked resting heart rate and blood pressure. 50 beats per minute and 96 over 64. Life is just getting more enjoyable as I lose. I'm now down 82 pounds and yesterday biked 45 miles with ease. I'm getting close, only 18 pounds away from triple digit losses. Next month I go for a full checkup and health work up with doctor and dietician and am looking forward to seeing how the blood work looks.
I'm cutting it close to reach my goal by my birthday, 100lbs by May 31st (b-day). Today it's May 9th and I've lost 92lbs so far, leaving me another 8 pounds to lose in three weeks. Not impossible, but getting more difficult, especially with having to move to another town and get all sorts of crap taken care of that's more important than weight loss. But I'm going to try and do it. Last thanksgiving I weighed 310, this morning I weighed 218lbs. Even if I don't make my goal on time, I'm pretty pleased. I'll make it soon enough.
