Cool Tom...... Warning: don't go in search of any Donut Store. If your un-lucky enough to find a bakery; keep in mind those pastries are fried in FISH OIL.........! Utter disappointment, if you get a Donut urge, hold it til you get back...... No, no, I didn't mean "hold it" as in, don't go to the restroom til you get back....just wanted to clarify....! LOL... Congrats Tom, what's the weather like over there, or can you even see it, thru the smog????
Ni men hao. All countries have smells, this one smells like a cross between NJ cicra 1970s and stale Phillip Morris products. Weather is nice, 50s-60s. Quite a few Lucy Liu types at the Hotel Rick. You'd have a bad case of yellow fever here.
Mang, you gotta try their Fish Oil donuts while your there. or look for those Fish Soup flavored Lays Chips, and bring a crate back, I bet you'd like 'em better than Cheetos....!
Greetings from Beijing! Rode the high speed rail to Beijing.....Jerry's never getting his train in CA. Labor here is dirt cheap, and there is only one union....THE Red Party. Off to explorer the forbidden city tomorrow and dine on a lacquered duck!
...just curious, have you been there before?...is it about what you expected?...impressed?...disappointed?
First time in China. Shanghai is impressive. Need to see Hong Kong for comparison though. Beijing is like ant other capital city, lots of old architecture, to go with glitz and glam. Staying in top tier business hotels....resort feel. Food has been excellent. Way too many people, its overwhelming to see miles of 20-30 story projects everywhere. People are super nice, typical Asian customs. Unlike Japan, I'm seeing a lot more Caucasians....and they are speaking excellent mandarin too. In Japan you stand out as a foreigner, here not so much. Likely will be coming here 1 or 2 times a year now. Lots to see and do.
When you say "Forbidden City" your not meaning Llahsa are you? BTW-Tell those pricks over there, fk Mao, and Free Tibet...!!!
