i was just looking at the past 10 games, and most of the games the rangers allowed 1 goal or less, and it got me to thinking, is talbot the real deal?? or is the rangers D the real deal? it seems like they play better with talbot in net.....

its hard to justify this to me as being a huge hank fan. my fav player in the league, as im a goalie guy.... but one cannot deny talbot has been playing better then hank. Now before you guys get on me here... lets face it, he has better numbers, people can say hank starts slow/rangers start slow, but there were plenty of games where hank let up some soft goals and didn't play well, its so hard to justify saying play talbot more then hank or even with hank consdiering hank is mr game 7 and very clutch, but one has to wonder, if hank starts off slow like he usally does, do the ranger go to talbot for a couple more games... I'm a firm believer if it isn't broke don't fix it and if the rangers are going 9-1 every 10 games.... that sounds like a formula for success....

i mean hate to say it, but you know what we could get for hank? ..... and even talbot?

one has to move this off season, and i would HATE it to be hank, but this is a business and if we can get some draft picks and some young guys... we HAVE to move one of them. the rangers have given up some first rounders and duclar and you don't stay up top forever unless you draft young talent (see detroit).

    your thoughts

Talbot has played very well, no denying that. But people forget how atrocious he was his first 5-6 games as starter. I know there's a learning curve there, but let's not act like it's been all roses since Hank went down. Additionally, as my man BigDaddyAl mentioned in another thread, he has just as many playoff starts as Talbot does. There are plenty of goalies who look great in the regular season (and over an entire season, not just portions of it like Talbot) who then go into meltdown mode when the pressure is on.

I'd put the chances of Hank moving at roughly negative infinity, but I'd put the chances of Talbot moving this offseason or next deadline at 99%. Could be a draft day deal for a first round pick like the Schneider trade. Maybe we can get one of Arizona's later firsts.

Talbot won't be traded, they value his backup numbers vs what they'd get for one year from another team. Why would a bad team needing a starter give up anything if he possibly could leave? To worsen their draft position?

I disagree with one moron scout saying Talbot would only bring back a third, maybe a 2nd if a team was desperate. I don't see it that way. I think he brings back a second a quality prospect. He proved a lot during this stretch and he's dirt cheap.
