He gets more years and more money from us. He's got good developing talent around him. He is on his way to be becoming the best Trail Blazer ever. Plus, he has the built in excuse that Wes was hurt. Plus, this is just a really tough Western Conference, BUT I think we will win in the first round.
Hell no! He's the alpha male here and he's been snubbed for minutes with the allstars many times. LA knows Portland is his legacy
I hope not he's been treated pretty well by this organization. But until he's signed. There is that possibility. I also think it comes down to if he thinks he's good enough with the current core to go the distance. On this roster, he's the man. That's not changing anytime soon
He Gone! Is that what you want to hear? The fact is 4 very good teams are going to lose in the first round. Portland might be one of those teams. The defense stunk tonight but if they had their starting 5 together i say they win that game going away. Just because they lost tonight does not mean Aldridge is leaving and if they lose in the first round it will not make any difference. if he is going to leave he will leave. They would have traded him if Olshey felt there was any chance of him leaving. I am pretty sure he will at least first sign the biggest contract the Blazers have ever offered any player at any time.
What is state tax like in Oregon? How would his max deal with the Blazers compare to a max deal from someone like the Mavs after taxes ... I don't believe there is a state tax in Texas.
Aldridge lives in Texas. This is from Forbes tax info for athletes. "Athletes file taxes not only in their home state but also in every state—and some cities—in which they play. Not every state uses the same calculation to determine what portion of an athlete’s income to tax, and some use different calculations based on the sport. For example,Pennsylvania taxes baseball, basketball and hockey players on the ratio games in the state over total games played, including pre- and postseason, but they tax football players based on days worked in the state over total days worked.Michigan uses the same method but excludes the preseason. Most other states use the days worked method." http://www.forbes.com/sites/kurtbad...urns-illustrate-complexities-of-u-s-tax-code/ The Oregon Tax code means very little other than he plays more games here.
It's possible he could bolt, but not likely. He's comfortable here, and that means a lot to him. He wants to win here, and nobody can pay him as much as we can. That said, if somebody does us in the 1st round like the Spurs did us in Rd 2 last year he may have 2nd thoughts about re-signing.
Although I don't believe LMA will be making decisions about where to play based on taxes, I do think that he does in fact pay more taxes playing here than if he played in Texas. barfo
5/127 sounds a hell of a lot better then 4/88 to a player who not only is comfortable and likes it here but also a player who doesnt make a lot in endorsements.
Aldridge has to show that he can get the Blazers to the finals multiple times before we can call him the best blazers ever. It's not just about stats.
If the Blazers loose in the first round and the Spurs make it all the way to the finals then we are in trouble. I'm sure Aldridge will not be ignoring that one.
