The Spurs win was impressive but I still don't think it puts the Lakers at number 1. I'd put Phoenix, and probably Dallas ahead of them right now (the Spurs are a better team than the Lakers but the loss knocks them back for this week). But it's exciting nonetheless to see the Lakers contend again.

The Lakers beat the Spurs, granted, but that doesn't make them a better team. We all know the Spurs really turn it on around May. LA matches up with Dallas well, and in a 7 game series they could give them a run for their money, but I'd still put the Mavs higher then them.

Not higher than the Lakers though, you are right on that.
