Denny - of course we are capitalists. There is nothing mutually exclusive about being Democratic or the liberal values I mentioned and making money, hopefully tons of money. You make tons of money if you massively help people solve their problems. Nothing right or left about that. And FDR made his decisions based on real politic
Democrats call you the 1% and revile you. The only people I ever hear blame Israel for the mess anywhere in the Middle East are democrats. Heck, Obama is downright hostile to Israel. FDR turned down Jewish leaders who begged him to do the right thing. He was commander in chief. He knew the holocaust was going on. I call bullshit on the "real politic." http://www.unc.edu/depts/diplomat/item/2013/0912/bk/book11_rockower_fdr.html
Denny - I don't know where you get your opinions about Democrats; they seem so far removed from any reality I know or experience. My world is full of liberal Jews. They all all support Israel - to a fault in my opinion (having been to the West Bank.) They all are rampant capitalists too - very successful at the capitalistic game really. They don't "revile" the 1% - many are the 1%, and those that aren't, strive to get there. My pals are all also very patriotic - again a far cry from the right's cartoonish characterization of the left.
You skipped past my point. Democrats hate on the 1%. Obama decries income inequality in his major speeches. Tax the rich is the party's mantra. Etc. Kinda like how black people want school vouchers, democrats refuse to allow them, and black people monolithically vote for people who oppose their best interests. I don't get it.
I'm not suggesting vote for republicans either. Fwiw. But republicans do cater to their whacky religious constituents. If black folks, Jews, and Hispanics ran a third party, they start with 35% of the popular vote. At least. Food for thought.
I didn't skip your point at all. I said that all my pals are liberal Jews and Democrats and "they don't "revile" the 1% - many are the 1%, and those that aren't, strive to get there."
But the vast majority of the party and all the elected officials DO revile the 1%. You and your friends are voting for people who revile you for your success. Get it yet?
Here in Portland, maybe the Portlandia folk don't like the 1% but again, I would say the vast majority love money and want more. Yours is a characterization that is simply not true.
Dude, for you it's a theory that Dems hate the 1%, but that is my world and in my real life experience that's just not true. You are taking talking points from some right wing class, but the class is about the world I live in. I trust my observations more than your Cliff notes about something which you clearly know nothing of in real life - because you can't know it because you don't run in these circles. Get it yet? In fact, other than maybe Maris, here on this board even, I don't see any of that vaunted 1% hate by my Democratic friends of which you speak. Barfo - do you hate the 1%?
http://www.businessinsider.com/obam...top-1-to-finance-middle-class-benefits-2015-1 Obama Wants To Increase Taxes Of Top 1% To Finance Middle-Class Benefits President Barack Obama's State of the Union address will propose closing multibillion-dollar tax loopholes used by the wealthiest Americans, imposing a fee on big financial firms and then using the revenue to benefit the middle class, senior administration officials said on Saturday. Obama's annual address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night will continue his theme of income equality, and the administration is optimistic it will find some bipartisan support in the Republican-dominated House of Representatives and Senate.
I don't frequent right wing sites or news channels. I live in the real world and see this stuff going on by watching things like the state of the union speeches. Who, exactly, are "Occupy Wall Street?" http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/democrats-seek-occupy-wall-street-movement/story?id=14701337
You just made MY POINT. Occupy was ridiculous. I don't know any Democrat that took it seriously. But you think Dems really believed that malarkey. Like I said, you have a distorted view of what a Democrat really is.
