Which do you prefer to play? I love playing 2-3 zone. I'm always on top since I'm small haha but I think it is easier and I hate having to cover one guy the entire game. And you guys?
Zone is cool, I like that a lot but I love going against 1 guy the entire time. It's fun going back and forth at eachother. Of course, I don't play oraganized anymore so I don't really have much choice.
Man to man 100%. I have great 1 on 1 defense, and I love frustrating the other player, not letting him breathe all game long.With Zone, I still get confused with rotations and stuff, and it's hard for me.
We play a 1-3-1 zone trap every once in a while. I love it. I play bottom and get anywhere from 10+ steals a game from it.
I prefer zone, but I usually play man since I only play pickup games. I hate getting stuck with a guy who is black, fast, and physical, or some big guy who can just post the sh*t out of me. I'm not big and I'm not extremely agile, but I can keep moving. Usually I can get some good buckets regardless, y'know.
I like man. It is more fun. I am an excellent perimeter defense player, so it is fun to shut down my guy I am guarding.
Man defense for me. I'm not the scorer when I play - the scoring that I get is the put backs, and the occaisonal post. On defense it's my favorite to shut guys down - I am pretty quick with my feet and hands and I usually am pretty good with getting about 2-3 blocks a game. (swatting shots is my fav thing to do)
I like playing zone defense more, It gives me more freedom in the paint. As a team our man-to-man defense is much better.
Since im a defender, usually the best on the team, and Im not exactly the offensive threath (I am only good at driving and disshing it out)that many make yourselves out to be, when in reality most of you probably arent, I have to say that I prefer man. I just luv the feeling that I get when I know im frustraiting the other guy, and not letting him score.
zone for me. I play organized but not for a high school team so its a little more laid back giving me a lot of opprotunities to block shots, my favorite thing to do. I just started realizing that I can actually get up and block shots so now I'm working my ass off to get better at it.
Now that I think about it, even though I prefer man, I'm a better defender with zone. I sneak up and get a lot of steals in the passing lane and go all alone for the lay-up...they both have their advantages and disadvantages.
I get tired faster when I play man too man, but it's much more fun. I learn their moves quickly and I do a lot of predicting. I'm right all the time but I'm just to slow to stay in front of someone in full court. With zone I save some energy and the opponent usually ends up shooting from the outside. It definitely increases the number of interceptions and steals you can get.
Man. I love to play defense. Zone can be quite boring and gets annoying if other people are being lazy.
I'd rather play a match-up zone. I'd rather give up 3's than numerous buckets in the paint. A good zone keeps players out of the paint. I say make 'em shoot.
