CC .........X-Factor - could break down, could stink up the place, or he just might figure out how to be effective with a 89-92(?) MPH fastball, a good curve ball and good changeup. I've seen worse stuff from plenty of "#3" SP. I'm hoping the big guy stays healthy, have a feeling he could be a pleasant surprise. oops
Saw the same stuff in the spring that has been his downfall the last couple of years. Sure, if if if and he can surprise us but there has been no indication.
^^^if would not be surprised if CC is eventually removed from a starting job altogether. I mean if he can't even pitch to a 4 or 5 ERA he's of really no use...hell, they can get that from most anyone.
I hope I'm wrong (that would be a switch) but I have a feeling that whenever CC starts we're going to be playing catch up.
No doubt. But my concern is if he is healthy, they keep running him out there....regardless of performance. Add to that a Tanaka reinventing himself (although I believe those statements to be Sun Tzu), can Pineda stay healthy, and Eovaldi/Warren. Lots of reasons to give CC too many chances. Crapuano is on the DL to May? Nova not ready to June? Who is the spot starter....Esmil Rodgers? They are gonna need him to protect the pen and soak up innings. Who is this years McCarthy, Phelps and Greene?
I look at the rosters (25/40) and where is the depth? Were back to the Cashman plan argument again, lol!
Yeah I honestly don't see anything that Cashman did during the off season that actually improved the club.
