That is so funny. Isles score with 1:44 left AND with 28 seconds left to tie it...and the Flyers score with 3 seconds left to win it...wow.
I have witnessed so many fluke goals. And it always happens. The last devil goal was a ridiculous own goal I have ever seen. And then to see a harmless 55 foot shot evade Halak and the Isles lose in regulation. No matter how good a team may be......... anything can happen when rubber hits the ice. Oh boy, hold on. Here come the playoffs.
That is not a fluke goal, that is an awful goal allowed by a questionable goalie. That is trouble for the Isles.
Sens tie it late, great comeback, but even the point for the Pens puts the Sens in a bad spot. Still will fall short.
Anytime catch a glimpse of the Pens coach (can't remember his name) after the Sens tied the game, and the two many men on the ice call? He had that look like he'd rather be anywhere but Ottawa
How about those Senators ... Look for the Sabres to come out hitting hard, no easy ones for the Pens lol
Caps - 99 points, 2 games left, 39 ROW's Isles - 98 points, 2 games left, 39 ROW's Wings - 97 points, 2 games left, 38 ROW's Pens - 96 points, 2 games left, 38 ROW's Bruins - 95 points, 3 games left, 37 ROW's Sens - 95 points, 2 games left, 35 ROW's
It's going to be an interesting final two games. Can you imagine if the Pens didn't make the playoffs?
The Wings are at the Habs (no Pac) and at the Canes. You have to figure 2 points at least. Leaves them at 99/39. The Pens host the Isles and play at Buffalo. You have to figure 2 points at least. Leaves them at 98/39. The Bruins are at the Caps, at the Panthers, at TB. Can they get 4 points? To me 100% that is what they need to avoid 8 and a series with us. If they only get 2 points they will be at 97/38. Get 3 points and they are at 98/38. Not good enough. Will finish 8th. They need 4 points IMO. The Sens are at NYR and at Philly. Get 2 points they will be at 97/36. Get 3 points they will be at 98/36. Not good enough unless the Bruins only get 2 points. They need 4 points also. So root for the Isles to beat the Pens AND then hope the Bruins and/or Sens can get 4 points. That would leave the Pens at 98 points and the Bruins and/or Sens at 99 points. All must start with an Isles win at Pitt Thursday night.
I was saying all season that Halak and the isles d is questionable. They cant even beat the crappy flyers to clinch the playoff spot.
I am still giving them a win at Buffalo on Saturday. So that means in order for them to miss the playoffs the Pens MUST lose to the Isles in regulation AND the Bruins AND Sens must get 4 points each. If that happens it will end with the Pens at 98/39. The Bruins at 99/39 AND the Sens at 99/37. Only shot IMO. Isles must beat the Pens in regulation AND the Bruins and Sens must each get 4 points.
For us to play the Pens round 1 the Pens MUST lose in regulation to the Isles and the Bruins OR Sens must get 4 points (unless you think the Bruins can go 6 for 6) . Pens end at 98/39. Bruins OR Sens end at 99/39 (Bruins) or 99/37 (Sens).
Funny...it certainly wouldn't be bad for us if Ottawa won. Issue is since we are so tight against the cap we only have 1 extra forward. So someone will sit, but it will only be one. Maybe Nash or Stepan? It is crazy how close things are. The Isles/Pens game tomorrow night is huge. The Bruins/Caps game tonight is real big. OT would be the best thing for us. But if it ends in regulation root for the Bruins so they can stay out of 8th. Then hope the Caps get a point or points against us Saturday so they stay above 8th for sure. Best thing for us is the Isles beat the Pens in regulation tomorrow night. If that happens then the Isles/Caps are locked in for sure round 1. Then hope Boston gets 4 points to finish ahead of Ottawa and Pitt. Because of the Buffalo game I view the Pens at 98/39. So again that means the Sens/Bruins need 99 points to finish ahead of them (and that assumes the Pens lose to the Isles in regulation). So to me one of Ottawa or Boston needs to get 4 points in their last 2 for Ottawa and 3 for Boston. So here is the rooting guide: Go Bruins tonight (I would love OT in that game). Go Isles tomorrow night in regulation (locks in Isles/Caps round 1). Then hope the Bruins at least split at Florida and at TB (after beating the Caps tonight) AND/OR Ottawa wins both of their games at NYR and at Philly and both end with 99 points. The Pens would then be out at 98 points. And we'd play Ottawa since Boston would have the TB over them. OR if Ottawa only gets 3 points or less we'd play the 98 point Pens in round 1. Boston with 99 points would play TB or Montreal depending on which team wins the division and what Detroit does in their last 2 games.
If this score holds up and the Caps beat the Bruins (lead 3-0 after 2), it looks more and more likely we'll play the Bruins unless the Bruins win their last two games at Florida and at TB OR they lose their last two games at Florida and at TB. Bruins will be at 80 games played, 95 points, 37 ROW's. The Pens worst case will win at Buffalo IMO. Which puts them at 98 points and 39 ROW's. Which means even if the Bruins get 3 of their possible 4 remaining points they will end at 98/38...hence they lose the TB to the Pens and will be behind them. Flip to the Bruins and Sens. The Bruins own the TB. So that means the Sens need to pass the Bruins not tie them. So if the Bruins win tomorrow night at Florida they will end at 97/38. So the Sens will need 3 of their possible 4 remaining points to pass the Bruins and end at 98/36. Sens are at NYR and at Philly (unlikely they get 3 of 4 IMO). Flip to the Wings. 97/38 right now. At the Habs (no Pac) and at the Canes. Worst case 99/39. So ahead of the Bruins unless they win out and also end at 99/39 (the Bruins would then own the TB). So I really think we are playing the Bruins round 1 as I thought the other day. AND knowing the Wings and Pens are each going to win one game at least IMO, I think our best bet now is actually the Bruins lose both games in Florida and the Sens get 1 or 2 points in their last two games and the Bruins miss the playoffs and the Sens get in at 8 and we play them. I think there is a better chance the Bruins get 0 or 1 point and the Sens get 2 points and finish ahead of Boston. Back to back at Florida tomorrow night, and then at TB on Saturday night who will need that game to have a shot at the Atlantic division. So it looks like Boston to me, and I think 95% it will be Boston or Ottawa (unless you think Boston can go 4 for 4). Plus side, we now cannot play the Caps in round 1, and they were by far the team I least wanted to play in the 1st round.
