Odom could miss significant time with knee sprainHOUSTON -- Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom sprained his right knee in the first quarter of Tuesday's game against the Houston Rockets and coach Phil Jackson said he might be out for more than a month. The 6-foot-10 Odom, the Lakers' leading rebounder and second-leading scorer, landed awkwardly after Shane Battier blocked his shot on a drive. Odom stayed in the game for another 90 seconds, but the Lakers called a timeout so Odom could come out with 8:31 left."I don't know exactly when it happened," Odom said. "But I felt like something was really wrong. I have no idea how long it'll be. I've never had anything like this."Odom was taken to a hospital for an MRI. The Lakers said Odom suffered a moderate MCL sprain and was flying back to Los Angeles for more tests on Wednesday."He's going to miss some time," Jackson said. "I'll be really happy if he plays again in January."Read Rest Here

This could be devastating for the surprising LA Lakers... Odom led the team while Kobe was injured and they did pretty well. He contributes a lot on the court and the stats don't show how valuable he is to the team. He's one of the most underrated players in the NBA right now.The team is playing out of it's mind right now thanks to Phil Jackson's coaching. Luke Walton has been a great surprise, but many of the other players are not consistent enough to keep them afloat. For Kobe Bryant, who has improved his team play this year, the next few weeks without Odom will be a very good test to see exactly how far he's come (team philosophy, etc).It looks like the Lakers can kiss the Pacific Division lead goodbye now... There going off what phil said. Phil isn't a medical doctor. Lamar said about 1-2 weeks.

ah..... :brickwall: Lamar is a huge part of this team. This is not going to be an easy few weeks or so with him out.

He is out at least for 4 weeks. This is absolutley terrible for the Lakers. I think that they are going to start Bynum at the center spot and move Kwame over to the PF spot. Andrew is going to have to have a big next 4 weeks. That is for sure....

Hopefully Lamar can make a speedy recovery for the Lakers sake, Lamar and Kobe were really starting to find a nich with each other and playing some great ball.

Kobe will continue to pass the ball, and play "team ball" like all the haters say he cant.... if his team mates keep making shotsit'll be a game by game thing..... Kobe will take over some nights and force the issue some if the rest of em continue to play like they did against the mavs last night.... notice Kobe gave guys plenty of chances with open shots and some point blank looks and everyone but Jordan Farmar didnt come thrubtw Jordan Farmar should be the starting PG like now
