I still think they should record someone singing "Niiiiiiicolaaaaaa!" like the guys in the Ricola commercials, and play it every time Batum scores...
Organs just scream baseball to me. If you use one in basketball games either play funk on it like Chester Thompson or Jimmy Smith or just USE MORE COWBELL!
I liked the organ overall, and it looks like I'm one of the few. There was too much of it, though.....but that seems to be the case at every NBA game. Constant music of some sort. A nice change from the norm, just dial it back a bit.
And I'm still getting those 1.75 royalty checks every month! Those were the days when men were men and folk singers were nervous!
I vote Yes. For the good old days. The organ between plays is music to my ears. Nowadays, recorded crowd noise or music is played to add noise. Portland has active fans, but most cities don't. In a dead arena, organ noise adds life.
For you young'uns...That Ramblers video is a parody. Those songs suck and I've never heard of them before. SCTV is a comedy group, right? Don't judge early 60s folk music by that video.
What makes Rip City, Rip City is its originality. They don't need this to enhance the in game experience. And this is what McGowan is trying to do. This is not LA, Blazer fans go to watch what's going on on the court, not going to see the sites or hear the sounds or to be seen in general.
