Yup - Stotts' defensive schemes give practically NO help to the perimeter defenders. All opposing teams need to do is set one good screen and then they've got a very good opportunity at an open shot. I don't blame Lillard for opposing PGs putting up 30+ on us with regularity - that's Stotts' fault.
And maybe that's why Lillard doesn't look as engaged on defense anymore - he knows that he can fight around picks all he wants, but without help to cut off the ball it's all wasted energy.

Post of the season! I'm just going to cut and paste this everytime Dame gets bashed here. I'm surprised there's no 4 bar Friday complaints but if shoes are his problem, I blame Casey Holdahl for that.

How's he getting bashed? Man that guy is clearly not good right now, his defense is at an all time low, he's semi inefficient, would I trade the guy? Absolutely not but he's progression has halted. That's all we're saying

Well-said. Lillard is Roy redux. He plays at half-speed for three quarters, then tries to be the hero in the fourth. It's maddening, especially when compared to a guy like Westbrook who goes full tilt for an entire game.

Nah his rookie year he didn't have this many inconsistencies.. It's just right now fans can't believe what's happened to him that it's hard for them to grasp what has happened to Lillard the savior.

I'm not going to lie I was in denial too up until like last month then it was just too hard to ignore. I can't believe it either. Hopefully in the playoffs the narrative will change to "wow it looks like he turns it on when it counts" but other than that it's been a subpar year for a so called superstar to the point you have to really consider is this guy a max player. Maybe a little slightly less would be fair but no way he should be paid superstar money..

Excuse me?! You are dead wrong....

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/lillada01.html

His points, FG%, Rebounds, Steals, PER, DRB%, AST%, STL%, DWS, WS and Vorp are at a all time high. But hey, don't let the actual stats get in the way of your trolling Mixum.

Didn't Felton just have a game winning shot a few games ago? Lillard hasn't had a game winning shot in months. Felton is better than Lillard.

Let's look at Dame's shooting from last season to this season.

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/lillada01/shooting/2014/ --- 2013/14

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/lillada01/shooting/2015/ --- 2014/15

    From (At the Rim) --- 2013/14 (427 shots): 53%, 2014/15 (385 shots): 64%
    From 3 - <10ft --- 2013/14 (160 shots): 28%, 2014/15 (119): 26%
    From 10 - <16ft --- 2013/14(85 shots): 39%, 2014/15 (81 shots): 44%
    From 16 - <3-pt: 2013/14(197 shots): 44%, 2014/15(195 shots): 39%
    From 3 point: 2013/14(624 shots): 39%, 2014/15(569 shots): 34%

    2013/14 total shots: 1,493, 2014/2015 total shots: 1349

So if you look at Dame and how he has scored more than last season, yet shot far less than last season; he's been way more efficient.

Yeah it's so stupid sometimes! Watch... When Dame completely dominates the post season, the same idiots will say "Dame is better than Jordan"

Just call it being a bipolar fan.

I agree with everyone that's defending Dame in this thread, he's grown in many, much needed ways this year. However...

Opponents have him figured out, do whatever it takes to push him off the three point line and let him get his anywhere else. Dame is at his most dynamic when he's raining down Three's, and this year has been a struggle from downtown (by Lillard standards). Yes we're spoiled to have such high expectations, but the fact of the matter is that Damian is one of the very best pure three point shooters we've ever seen.

Personally, I'm glad that Lillard is struggling a bit. Kid thrives when his back is against the wall and people are doubting, the adversity is only going to push him further into greatness.

IDK. my biggest problem with the Lillard haters is most of them are the same people who think Westbrook is god, and does no wrong.
They believe they're being objective, but really they're ignoring key stats that prove their statements invalid.

But you're right I prolly jumped the gun and grouped stevenson in with those people.
But in my defense... the stats sly posted show lillard has improved...
If someones only gripe about Lillard is "he's not hitting clutch shots"... or "he's being a baby on the court".
I just find that a very shitty way to see how a player has played for the year.
    Batum has regressed, Lillard hasn't.

I said we should draft Westbrook instead of Lillard but no one would listen.

They were in different drafts. I think westbrook was in the 2008 one..
