NHL playoffs always produce unlikely heroes.
Never fails. Every year. Brock Nelson of the Isles....Game 1.
    Hawks' Darling in goal....Gm 1

Detroit gets outshot 46-14 (46-14!!!!!!) and wins 3-2. 44 saves for Mrazek, looks like Howard has lost his job.

Ben Bishop, welcome to the playoffs my man. First career game, .786% save percentage. Ouch.

Montreal surely gets special treatment. And it is wearing old
    in this league. Total embarrassment.

Yes Paging Neil. I know he will be looking to crush PK in the open ice but he should just chop him down too

Interesting game in DC tonight. Caps pretty much have to win, very doubtful they win 4 of 5 if they lose tonight, but now they don't have Holtby. Going to be a VERY interesting game to watch. Think the Caps will win just because a loss means they are just about done, but who knows without Holtby.

    GAME 2
After one period, Isles silencing Ovechkin & Caps...1-0.
    Isles forechecking is baffling Caps.

Caps in trouble. Isles have scored in every period so far.
Holtby's backup is weak, but really untested.

Caps storm back with 3 unanswered goals in 3rd period. It's a series.

I'm sick & tired how Montreal gets all the crucial calls in
    that god forsaken building.

Islanders blow another lead. They might regret not taking that 2-0 series lead.

3 of the 4 series now tied 1-1. Solid chance TB ties their series at 1 this afternoon. And the Blues would be the fav to do so as well. Point is be ready to play tonight Rangers. In the NHL playoffs you get a lot of 1-1 series. The only series that isn't 1-1 right now is the series where the losing goalie has let up 2 or 3 soft goals in two games.

Teams know falling down 2-0 in the NHL playoffs is pretty much the kiss of the death. It is VERY difficult to come back from 2-0 down in the NHL playoffs. So the team that gets beat in game 1 plays game 2 like do or die must win.

Be ready and give the Pens no life tonight.

Not true Chuck. The Blackhawks are 1-1 because their backup goalie stood on his head and Crawford gave up 3 soft goals in Game 1. Crawford was also very soft in game 2

Hammond and Crawford have both looked awful. The only difference is that the Hawks firepower on O is good enough to overcome that at times. Sens have no chance if Hammond isn't rolling, and he's obviously come crashing back down to earth.

This is a huge game for Ben Bishop today. If he struggles again, even if the Bolts pull it out, they could be in trouble.
