...obviously winning the first game of the series increases the Yanx' chances of finally winning/sweeping their first series of the year, but the fact that they'll be starting Tanaka and Pineda on Saturday and Sunday has got to help their chances even more. ...now, if only someone other than ARod will produce on offense.
They can pitch their asses off but if this offense other than the druggist doesn't turn on could be some bad results. There were 15K+ on board for that game last night, very low draw for the Yankees in town, Cashmans clowns aren't drawing well at the circus.
The irony of this offense is that the only guy they didn't really want is the only one producing. The shift seems to affect the Yankees more than most teams because of the approach guys like Tex and Drew take with their AB's.
...yeah, the others really need to get their act together because ARod is on target for about 65 HRs and 170 RBIs...no way he can sustain that sort of pace.
Beltran, McCann and/or Headley need to pick it up. When at least two (hopefully all 3) of these guys start putting up respectable numbers, the Yanks should be able to play consistent winning ball......needless to say as long as all else remains - healthy pitching, no serious injuries to a COUPLE of other regs.
They did manage to score 5 runs even with a lot of Ks. And the Rays scored......4 Don't want to see all those Ks, McCann and Headley had a rough night. We still won. And I'll gladly take it. Yes, it's still very early, but as the saying goes: "It could get late very early" Let's hang in there until some of the other guys get rolling and at least stay a couple of games out of first place by the end of April.

You can't have 1/2 the players in your lineup hitting under 200 & expect to be successful.
I think the Yankees should have Tanaka go full tilt boogie to make it or break it. If he has to have surgery then so be it, better early than late. After Pineda what have you got, just a Trio singing "Luck Be a Lady Tonight"
